Trying again

Featured Replies

Having RFM'd, and vainly attempting to work it out independantly, if given up. The N/S door mirror always default to the "look at the sky" position. O/S works fine. I must be too dim to get my head round this.

How do I get rest control so I can get it to point in a useful direction?

So its on an L&K combi, it has heated mirrors, not sure about the dip, but I do remember it would point to the kerb if reverse was selected - perhaps that is the same?

Thanks

Do you have memory seats as I believe the mirror positions get stored with that. Also the manual is confusing as in mine anyway, it assumes its left hand drive. So you need to reverse the L and R in following it

Yup memory, seats.

LHD - That idea hadn't occured. But still unsure why the thing should go up.

I'll have another go tomorrow, hopefully be warmer then.

Is it also possibly something to do with the fact that depending on yr maxidot settings, both mirrors adjust on R (or L in the manual!) and then you have to separately adjust the left mirror on L? Can be turned off so each mirror adjusts independently in maxidot.

Not noticed any such facility in my maxidot, it seems rather lo-cal compared to the ones seen posted on here. I presume there are several iterations.

Under the convenience menu if you have it, can also be set in vcds. I thought full maxidot was standard on l and k spec, maybe applies to later models, not sure the yr on yrs??

Too dark now, I have a bottle of Cotes de Luberon I don't want to go off, and a tomato, feta and garlic greek thingy in the oven.

Will have a look in the am.

Thanks for your time.

Mmm I gotta make do with a Carling. Hard life eh

The near side mirror on my L&K does this.....except it points at the ground rather than the sky. I tried numerous times to set the position it moves to when you engage reverse, with no luck.

Then I scanned it with VCDS and there was a fault code related to an intermittent fault in the near side mirror memory motor. On the L&K the door mirrors have memory motors to allow the mirrors to both move to different preset positions according to which memory button you select on the seat.

So I think my memory motor needs replaced......but I haven't bothered with that yet. I just kept resetting the mirrors position and storing it in my seat memory, and we seem to have come to a happy medium....it no longer points to the ground when I select reverse.....most of the time.

So I think you have a faulty memory motor in your mirror.

That may work for me then. I suppose I could even disconnect it, once correctly set.

As far as the wine is concerned, I just pootle round the vinyards, tasting and buying. I find if you seek out the good restaurants, try what you don't know, you begin to get an idea of what you like and who makes it. Don't lower you car, the cases of wine will do that.
