Spotted a (possible) hit & run

Featured Replies

Hi chaps,

Was out cycling yesterday when the van in front came what appeared very very close to a parked car. I record all my rides on a GoPro camera from the front of the bike and on review it looks like the van actually made contact and may have damaged the car - but this cant be confirmed without checking the car in question. Licence plates on both are clearly visible.

Question is: Who, if anyone, do I report this to? DVLA, Police, driver of potentially damaged car?

Cheers

If you can actually see damage to vehicle in question, then a note on the windscreen leaving some sort of contact details IMHO would be enough. If the owner wants to pursue it, then the ball is in his court.

Report it to the police

Leaving a note does sound like the best idea, but I live quite far away from where this took place. Will give the local plod's non-emergency number a ring and they might be able to ask the owner to check for damage :)

+1 for the plod, that's what they are there for and it will give them a good detection if it did make contact.

I actually laughed out loud on that one! A proper example of "blue skies".
