Good morning. Thought i'd join the forum

Featured Replies

Hi there. Picked up a Skoda Octavia vrs on Saturday. Thought i'd join the forum as it's very handy for advice and all.

Had a bad incident when i was nearly back at my journey, 3 wheel nuts had come out of the front left wheel. This was after i had left the garage and it had a service and got mot'd. Spare is on now, however i'm not sure if the alloy is safe to put on. Hoping to get some advice here. Also, a brake light is on in the car, likely due to the vibrations from the wheel, just wondering if the sensor is ruined.

Could have been a lot worse, so fingers crossed not too much damage is done. Going to a garage to get checked over tonight.

Hope to hear from you all. =)

David

So sorry to hear about that David.

Hope you get it fixed OK and have many happy (and less eventful) miles in your Octavia!

Best wishes,

Andy.

I would hope the wheel will be fine as long as there were two bolts still fairly secure. I would just refit and ensure all 5 are torqued up to around 120Nm. The light on the dash might be related, but better to confirm with VCDS than to guess it is linked to the wheel vibrations when it was shaking loose.

narrow escape! but as you say it could have been worse. let us know what the garage says and what they do. If you're in one of the AA/RAC it might be worth ringing them to see what they think of the oval holes and if it's still safe to use the wheel long term.

Welcome to the forum, you should be able to get advice on just about everything to do with your vRS in the Octy II section etc

All the best

Hi and welcome aboard.

That could of ended up as a very nasty accident and glad it didn't, surely the dealer would have checked everything.

I got it checked at a local garage last night to just ensure that the car is safe to drive and the light on the dash is a brake pad light, wire had snapped due to the wobble of the wheel. Front suspension arms need done and the starter is sticking so it also needs done. The other thing is the rear caliper is ceasing, noticed that they had applied copper grease to this obviously to loosen it up to pass an mot.

It has a months warranty, so not sure what that will cover but from what has happened, they should come clean with me and help (hopefully) as this just aint right. It's obviously not been mot'able so somewhere down the line someone has done something wrong. I have the mot testing station number so if the dealer was not willing to cooperate then i could say that i will be going to trading standards to get further advice. Could the mot station be at risk because of this? If so, then this would probably be to my advantage.

Also, anyone have a 16" alloy for sale

Cheers

No it isn't. The wheel in those pictures is nackered. You might find that with 3 of the holes still OK it would stay bolted up, but don't risk it.
