Both my children have Fabia 1.4 8Vs (why not group 2 insurance, safe and they enjoy the anti-snobbery approach!) and I have bought a Fabia SDI for work. However my boys car has a gearlever which has a stiff cross movement with little or no spring return to the 3/4 plain but otherwise ok. I have stripped down, lubricated the ball (silicone grease) and replaced the pressure spring but now believe that it must be the cable. To replace looks a fairly big job as it would mean removing the exhaust and heat shields to access the connection at the gearlever end. I can release from the gearbox end quite easily and support vertically to permit lubrication but does anyone know what lubricant I should use please.

Thanks Denis quite a price, but would it run down and penerate the dry area between the inner and outer or is it more a grease compound - which unfortunately might not work.
