Gareth's vRS TDI

Featured Replies

Hi all my names Gareth I joined after buying my vRS and having the site recommended to me by a few friends. I bought my vRS there end of January in Leeds and i'm delighted with it, obviously there is a few plans for the car one I get it on Irish plates.

Some of the plans are:

Columbus or similar

Maxidot and Cruise control

I want to get it remapped again

DPF and EGR delete

Carbonio intake or similar ( any recommendations)

H&R Cup Kit

Uprate both ARB's

Uprate discs and pads( Probably go with yellowstuff pads)

Light tint on the windows

Debadge the Octavia badge

2013 Skoda Badges (ordered)

vRs style foot rest insert (done)

Hankook V12 Evo's (done)

Colour code the chrome grill

Honeycomb grill inserts

Thats all I can think of now, i'll put up a few pictures now:

The Bora it replace, was a torture to get anywhere as it was static,

Thanks for looking will throw up more pictures when I fit the new badges.

Love the Bora, looks great on those TT Comps.

My Bora was slammed on coilies and was a nightmare over the potholed streets of Sheffield, so I can empathise with you on that one.

New Octy looks well, just what I will be going for when funds allow.

Enjoy your car

Cheers

Thanks Damo, have to say the Octy is a great car and is a nice upgrade from the Bora. Just enjoying being able to drive it normally now compared to having to go sideways over ramps and avoiding cats eyes and everything. I pulled the dogbone mount clean out of the gearbox on the Bora on a cats eye before.

Here is a picture of the car with it's Irish plates after a quick wash and polish. I also fitted the new Skoda badges and removed the Octavia badge from the back.

Sorry for late replies lads

Dallan- Ya car was at the Limerick Show beside Milly's Seat Inca

Joo- Bora was on 17" TT Comp wheels 215/40R17 Goodyear Eagle's F1s

Latest Update: Ordered wheels today 3SDM 0.06 in 19x8.5 and 10's on the back

Now coilovers I'm looking at AP's or Weitecs anyone have previous experiences or advice any opinions are appreciated.

How do I adjust camber on the back also need some major camber to pull these off.

Cheers

Gareth

I have front Apx and rear Ap. So much difference, rear is not so good, but front are great.

Also, my friend on 2008 cupra have Apx, also only good experience.

Other friend on 2005 passat, AP only, not good, too much bumpy. he replaced them already, after couple months.

I dont have expirience with Weitecs.

I have APs on mine. Good - front doesn't go as low as I'd hoped but ride comfort I find ok. Roads around here are pretty rubbish (old cobbled roads that are just tarmac'd over) so at sub 30mph on those its a bit bouncey but on fast A and B roads its brilliant.

Might be selling mine soon actually - may split the car and sell it standard.

Roads where I am are shocking haha Irish country roads not good for low cars at all but we put up with them. What adjustments are on ap's is it just height?

I think theres a more expensive version (APX?) - mine are the £400 ones and its just height but I'm impressed with them. Didn't go with FKs as I'd heard the Highsports were a bit too bouncey but went lower...

Cheers man, pic's will be next week as the wheels aren't available in 19's until then. I went for black because there is way too many blue one's about.

Black #1 :)

Wheels are awesome, looking forward to seeing this done :)

Thanks Iain I'm looking forward to it bein done as well haha I said I wasn't goin to modify it when I bought the car. I lasted 10 months that's a record for me.

I'll update the thread as I progress

Not to bad, beats me at least. I was about 6 months before the coilies were ordered and it span out from there! I kept telling myself i wouldn't like being back in a lowered car and only went for cheap coilies. Really had myself convinced they would be off within weeks but nope, still love it! Next up is some more upmarket coilies for me lol oh they joys of being a modder £$£$£$£$£

Bora was gorgeous as well! Good car choices goin on here :)

Latest update, I bought this S Line gearknob to replace to boring horrible standard one. Bit expensive but a touch nicer than the usual S Line one people go for

gearknob_zps31d070e8.jpg

Wheels and coilovers should be in after Christmas and few bits to sort before dubshed in April:

1. Get wheels, tyres and coilovers on

2. RNS510

3. Fit Gearknob

4. Send aluminum look trim away for carbon dipping

5. Lightly tint the windows

6. Colour code grill and sort out the corner of the back bumper. Corner sits a bit proud on the right hand side think the car had a wee tip in a previous life

7. Maybe a TTRS Short shifter

8. Black coolant and washer caps.

9. Replace some of the missing rubber gromits that hold engine cover in place.

10. Find some bits and pieces to pretty up the engine bay (already have R8 oil cap)

Any other wee handy mods people would recommend that are a nice touch for handy enough money?

Cheers

Gareth
