Basic Remap question

Featured Replies

If I get my 1.6TDI remaped will dealer ECU updates at service overwrite the remap?

It's probable that the software can be overwritten by the dealership. It's good to know the reflash policy of the company you choose for your remap :)

Yep, they sure will. But as Evan says check what the company who does the map will do in this case. We charge a £25 fee to have it re flashed in this case.

I'm pretty sure that if you use an sts system such as the one shark sells you can simply reload the performance map back in again after the update without incurring any cost.

Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2

Without this turning into a thread full of what each tuner does or doesn't do and what they might charge, yes if the dealer updates the ECU then the remap will be lost.

Most reputable tuning companies will retune the car either free of charge of for a small fee after a dealer update. For this reason each car we tune is logged by chassis number and we always redo the work FOC after a dealer update.

Thanks for confirming what I thought would happen. I was surprised how many updates were applied to my ECU at last service 80.

Had my vrs re-mapped by you guys 4/5 weeks ago - really pleased with it so thanks.

My warranty/free service for three years runs out in June so I'm going to take it to local VAG specialist for any work.

Simply what do I tell them when I have a service done - is it as simple as the car has been re-mapped don't touch the ECU??

Yes just tell them that the car has been remapped, although it won't affect anything with their servicing etc.
