Skoda Octavia mkII/Passat

Featured Replies

So, after having my French wagon for a little over a year I've decided I miss the pulling power of my only octavia, the 1.5dci engine has been brilliant and never missed a beat but it just can't pull the load when trying to overtake with four blokes in the car going to work. My question is, I've been looking at the above estates 09 reg onwards and there seems to be a lot of 1.9 pd tdi units with 105bhp, I thought the PD engine was phased out years ago in favour of the 2.0 140bhp engine? My mates 06 golf has this unit. Is the 1.9 105 ok? Does it pull the big estate without any problems? Would you suggest it or would you suggest trying to find a 2.0?

Had both, loved both, couldn't really say that I noticed a massive difference in normal driving tbh

The 1.9 is a great engine. 105bhp very economical and has good pulling power. The BXE engine is the last 1.9 produced used in the Octavia,Superb 2,Fabia and Roomster.

I'd recommend it over a 2.0 :)

God knows why they dropped for the 1.6 :(

Probally because of current emissions laws.Best diesel VAG ever made.

I use a 1.9 pd octy estate as a taxi, fully loaded with 5 people & cases it still moves! Want a remap for extra torque tho

Thanks for the replies, now the search begins!

Another vote for the 1.9 tdi here. Driven it lots before and very impressed.

Didt they still do the PD's on the smaller units til much later on? Compared to they changed the 170 engines to CR on 58?

Both my diesels have been PD's both fine. Just get a litle stage one map to give it a boost
