Fabia vRS replicas

Featured Replies

Personally, I'm wouldn't badge my cars up as something they're not. If I stuck an M3 badge on my car it would be an obvious fake (only 2 tailpipes, not 4, no bonnet bulge, no side vents, no wide body etc). If I'd built a car to look like an M3 I still don't think I'd bother, but equally if someone else had stuck them on then I'd not really moan too much. (It seems to be a cardinal sin in the BMW to stick an ///M badge onto a non-M car too!)

With something like a Fabia/Golf etc the differences are much more subtle to start with, but assuming it was done properly I'd not mind. If it was half done or stock then no.

Personally, I'm a fan of debadging anyway, which is what I've done. Keeps people guessing at the lights ;)

More to the point - isn't there more important stuff in life to worry about?

reps are nice as long as done correctly as others have said who cares as long as the owner is happy personally i'm going to get vrs seats and a vrs bumper for my 1.4mpi estate its debadged and has the wheels off a mk4 polo idc what people think i love it.

If the car is a complete replica, body kit, seats etc, then why not, its a rep, iv seen a very well done Civic type R rep, couldn't tell the difference,

However when you see all the BMW cars driving around with a giant "M" badge on with no other mods to make it look like an "M" model then thats just terrible

Exactly my point!

At the end of the day it's your car, you have to live with it. And if you like it, sod everybody else. IMO of course

You can get V8 and Turbo badges in halfords! They must make your car go really fast!

You sound like your talking about a specific post or thread maybe?

I know the thread you mean, Matt. That one reminded me. I'd seen one or two others get grief for it, but can't remember the usernames/ threads now. Agree, if you put it on a bog standard, ie no mods or rep, that's just plain wrong. I might put a 1.4MPI badge on mine :D

Do you stuff your underwear with socks?? no then why badge up your car??

By all means build a rep, but if its not 100% rep then doesn't warrant the badge.

I think its just a bit sad that people like to make their car out to be something its not.

So you think its wrong to put the sticker on a bog standard one, but if it looks half like a vrs its okay? or 3/4`s like a vrs?? What is the cut of line??

Whats the difference in bog standard and a half done rep? Neither should be badged up to something they are not. 100% rep or better then fair enough.

Why would you do a rep on a fabia vrs, its a cheap insurance, cheap fuel and cheap running costs anyway, I see the point in some people doing Golf GTI's, R32's and Audi S3's etc, high running costs, high insurance, but a fabia vrs?

Doesnt bother me I must admit but mine is a genuine vrs and tbh mine is debadged. Lol. Seems alot take the badges off from what ive seen around Yorkshire.

Seen a few very tidy looking examples on the site of vRS replicas. What I don't understand is people slagging the owner off for putting on OEM vRS badges. Sure, it's not a genuine vRS but so what? If you're going to build a replica, you'd want it to look as close as possible to the original, including badges. Why tell people to take off what is, after all, only a badge? The owners have gone to a lot of trouble to make a good example of a Fabia and made them look as close as possible to the genuine article.

They may have various reasons such as age, insurance, hatred of diesel cost etc etc for not buying a genuine one.

Come on, it's only a badge. Give 'em a break.

Hope that answers you question :)

I don't mind the badge if its the mk1 logo, as it's the skoda Motorsport logo :)

Dont see why anyone cares to be fair.

Hope that answers you question :)

"look as close as possible" is not a genuine rep!! A genuine replica wouldnt be able to be told apart from the real car, including the engine and interior etc..

Copy right infringement, call the police!

I'm making my S3 into an A3 replica.

I really am too, I'm not taking the pee...

My replacement mirror covers are in the spray shop as we speak.

The car goes in to my indy for MOT next week, when it does the alloy

effect 'S' mirror covers are coming off in favour of the colour matched variety.

Already debadged front and rear, changing the S3 caliper badges for plain black

ones (from the 3.2 variant) when the brakes need doing next.

Was just trawling ebay for an oem A3 badge for the tailgate.

Madness.

Really? Getting rid of bumpers? Xenons? Wide arches? Wide rear quaters? Exhaust tip?

Most s3s didnt have chrome mirror covers anyway.. they were an optional extra.. n not a popular one as they look like halford specials..

I wouldnt bother m8.. the s3 was the only a3 that shape that looked any good..

Mines an 8p3.

The front bumper is used on other A3's as are the xenons.

I think you'll find those 'alu' mirrors are standard on the S3 as well, there's no

mention of them on the bill of sale I have but all my other options are

listed. I have fitted a plain Blackline grille to mine already, it's the RS3 that has the aggro

looking bumper, mine is used on a few different variants.

Granted the wider arches are a bit harder to conceal but being black

they aren't as obvious as on a paler coloured car, nor are the side skirts.

When funds allow the rear diffuser and front 'splitter' valance will also

be colour matched to the car as they are a little obvious in mid grey

as they are at the moment.

I'm keeping the wheels as they need to remain 18's to go over the 345mm

front brakes, it's an uncommon offset and I'd rather not use spacers so reps

are out.

But I'll have them refurbed in a darker colour to tone them down a bit.

In time I'll buy an aftermarket exhaust with twin rounds rather than twin

ovals. There are a few choices that look A3 oem.

I won't get it 100% looking like an A3, but it will be a rep after all.

There's usually something that gives the game away.

Madness.

That's what they said on Audisport funnily enough :)

I'm keeping all the original bits so they can all go back on when

it's time to sell.

Can I ask why you are doing that?

Do you prefer the standard look?

The brushed ally mirror cover look smart I think. Think Mattie has them on his new Volvo.

Ah no worries m8.. thought u had a 8l lol :)

I was reffering to the horrible chrome mirrors u can get on those..

Ye the 8p3s look well especially the s-lines ;)

U guna put a 1.4 tsi badge on lol??

I've heard too many horror stories on Audisport about people returning to their cars to

find their mirrors literally ripped off the car. I'd expect to spend approx £800 per mirror to

replace them like for like. A used (read stolen) pair of the alloy effect mirror covers will sell

easily on ebay for well in excess of £300. To replace a pair of the mirror covers alone with

brand new ones will be £550. Add to that the dimming heated mirror glass (£200 per side)

then add mirror arms and motors and you are steaming towards a £1500+ bill to replace

the mirrors if they are stolen.

Even more if you find they've damaged the paint on the doors underneath them

which they often do as the preferred method for theft is ripping them clean off the car. Add in

labour, wiring repairs and paint repairs and you're easily in the £17-1800 quid territory.

I've found used replacement OE plastic covers for £20 each, about £40 to paint them and

about £25 to have them fitted. £105 all in and nobody will pay any attention to them if they

are black so they should remain unmolested hopefully. At the moment I worry so much about

parking the car and leaving it somewhere that I hardly ever drive it.

I just like the sleeper look, after a remap I'll be in 300bhp plus territory so it will be a real

wolf in sheeps clothing, a few invisible suspension mods and it can be a right stealth weapon.

I think it's a good enough looking car without all the flashy stuff.

I also think it would be kinda fun to stick a 1.4 badge on the back too.

I think your audi looks so much better with out the bling on anyway.
