323mm Leon Cupra Brembo brakes

Featured Replies

Hi, im sure this has been covered before but i want some extra piece of mind before forking out a load of cash!

The 323mm Brembos from the Leon Cupra - Do they go straight onto a fabia (polo in my case)? Or do i need to buy caliper mounting brackets too?

On an extra note, has anyone got any experience of these fitting under 17" Porsche Twists?

Thanks guys :)

Probably need 18's tbh

They will fit behind 17's as your running spacers anyway.

Iirc you need adapters for the brakes too, a search should find what your looking for. Someone was selling a set on here not long ago for £500 for the lot.

Fits straight on.

Needs 17" rims min andspacers depending on et.

Awesome brakes.

S3 17" avus rims will go over them ok no spacers iirc

As billy says. My car in current winter mode, you can just see them hiding behind the wheels:

Are they worth the extra money's over the 312mm set up though?

How much better are they?

I've gone from the standard 288's to 312's to running the Cupra R Brembo's under my Porsche Twists and back to 312's again :D

The 312's are a fair bit better than the 288's and the Brembo's are hugely better than both, IMO. The place where you notice the difference is at high and very slow speed, heavy or quick breaking with make you face plant your windscreen at those speeds!

You'll need adapters to fit the Twists as the fitment is 130 I believe and we run 110 as standard....the adapters I had gave enough breathing space for the massive calliper.

Is it worth the £500 cost, extra insurance, drop in MPG? Only worth it if you are going to be running big power and tracking your car, if not, 312's will be ample for your needs.

Hope this helps

Fabia is 5x100 dude :)

That's what I meant :p

Mpg drop? How?

In sheer weight, those wheels are fairly heavy as are the callipers and adapters.... All adds up surely?!

Certainly noticed a difference on the road trip app I use.

Ah I see, the s3's certainly are weighty. I see what you're saying - didn't have my thinking hat on lol

Dunno about the brembos but the ap 4 pots weren't really any heavier than 312's as they were ally.

312's are perfectly adequate. Stop too quick and the to$$er behind will be in your boot :wall:

Thanks! I already have the twists on the car. Im running 25mm spacers at the front, do you know if thats enough? I know of a chap who had 35mm and it fit but hes not sure by how much :/ Cheers!

312mm setup is more than enough for any tuned Fabia, more so with some DS2500 pads, even track work wouldn't cause issues. The biggest difference you notice with the brembo setup is the feel under foot, just so much more responsive. I really doubt that on a car as small as the Fabia the larger brakes will stop you that much quicker. My motives for fitting them were looks more than anything tbh, with my TD pro race 3s on even the 312mm looked tiny. :D They are causing me a headache with my next wheels but I would be without them now. As far as mpg goes I havent noticed much difference, but I ran the wheels I run before I got the brakes, I doubt the brakes themselves weigh much more. If you went from 16" wheels and 288mm discs > 323mm and 17" wheels (especially heavy S3 wheels) then I guess you might notice more.

Yeh tbh i thought 312mm and DS2500 would be enough (thats my current setup) but i just find that from cold they arent very good! Great when they have heat in them dont get me wrong.. but not exactly impressive from cold. Looks are a plus point for sure. Theres also more power on the horizon so a bit of extra confidence is always nice :)

A 'fast road' type of pad like a ds2500 is always going to slightly underwhelming until they warm up.

Yeh i do appreciate that.. Tbh ive got my head stuck on the 323's now!lol

I'm looking to replace my brakes too, any where i can buy the 312's from and callipers?

Ebay are the best bet for calipers. Discs and pads from EuroCarParts or CarParts4Less.

I did some measuring when I upgraded my Polo brakes to 4 pots - might be of interest: http://www.tigerstyle.co.uk/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=55945

Surprising result too IMO.

Good write up TriggerFish! Interesting read.. Can tell you've probably done a dissertation/research essay in the not too distant past?lol

Cheers - good guess too! I'm in the middle of doing one now! (I think the dancing guy is a little bit over ambitious!) This has been my life for the past few weeks: :(

I was on my placement year when I did that test.

Anyway, not to go off topic!

Mate ive just handed my diss in... my life can continue as of now lol.. There is a reasonable level of validity within the study however the question remains, are the results generalisable to all 4 pot calipers? lol

But yes! On topic :)

You lucky guy! Two weeks and I'm done and then off to Italy :)

I'd assume variables like piston/master cylinder sizes and weight + brake force distribution would play a pretty big role in it too. I'm not a BEng guy though so not really sure! I'll stick to computers for now.
