Is it ok to drive my car?

Featured Replies

Hi all.

my coolent level is full, but when I start car the coolent light on dash beeps 3 times an keeps flashing, but if I drive my car for about 2/3 minutes then turn engine off/ then on again the light doesn't come on anymore till don't use the car till say the next day then it does same again,

I've only had car a week an worries about damaging something,

Any ideas and should I not drive it till its fixed?

Thanks

Mike

Sounds like the level sensor is faulty, i had a similar prob. Get yourself a new header tank only about £15 iirc. If its annoying you undo the plug and use a paper clip to bridge the connections as a temp measure.

May look full but I recon it's just under, mine has a small leak and it only takes 100ml to fill it up when the light comes on.

If the coolant level isn't dropping (ie. no loss of coolant), then the chances are the two long metal longs in the coolant expansion tank have a layer of small bubbles on them.

Take off the cap, and gently rub them with a tootbrush, stick, screwdriver etc. Try not to get any dirt into the coolant tank. Put lid back on. Job done.

If it's not coming on after running it then it'll be low fluid, mine was doing the same.

Sent from my Galaxy S3, not a Crapple!

It's probably just deposits on the dip contact; proceed as #4 and that will most likely sort it for the next several years for 5 minutes time and £0-00.

Lol, well I had a to this morning ,the fluid is a bit above max so I cleaned prongs in bottle with a toothbrush, ( looked clean anyway) but did em an I think that's sorted as light didn't come, :)). Cheers all

This is the sort of thing you get from experience; one of the other posters and I have had the same cars (actual vehicles, not model) for over 7 years now.

Yeah, yeah… whatever ;)

Obvious statement, but check the level when the car is stone cold, ie in the morning. My money is on low coolant
