Featured Replies

Hi im just after a bit of advice. On my front discs there is a scoring mark around the edge 10mm from edge of the disc.Im after fitting drilled and grooved brakes but dont want the same thing to happen again. Any ideas what it could be?

Cheers kriss

More than likely a bit of crap got in between pad and disc

Drilled disc crack !!!

Drilled disc crack !!!

This....... Dont fit drilled.

it may have a cheep set of pads in it, just when you do fit the new setup, Bed them in propperly, this should stop things like this happening.

Could be a stone or similar got stuck in your pad, I've had this on mine before. Keep an eye on it to make sure it isn't getting any worse (hopefully it will improve with time), if it does take your pads out and check them for debris.

Drilled discs WILL crack if both sides of the holes are not deburred, this is not possible with vented discs as fitted to a vRS. If you check regularly and are lucky you will see cracked discs and be able to replace them, if you forget to check or are not lucky the first you will know about it is when the brake disc fails. It isn't worth the risk, as others have said don't do it.

How do you "bed in properly"?

Go easy on them for as long as possible. 500 miles seems to be a popular number

Hello Chris,

I did that and mine appear to be warped. Juddering under light braking - see my other thread which you've replied to.

Just been out and done 15 hard stops from 60 to 10mph, and I then let them cool, but still doing it.
