Side strip query?

Featured Replies

Dealer informs me that the requested black protective side strips, (Black protective side strips, as listed in brochure) are in fact grey and may spoil the overall effect of the car?

I'm sure that all the fitted Fabia 2 strips, that I've seen, other than painted to match, have been black?

Any M/C owners with red /black cars got any advice? I really don't think I want them painted...I thought that they arrived black & were then fitted as requested?

M/C awaiting collection is Red with black roof.

VMT.

The Monte Carlo Black side protective strips are, of course an extra....the query is - has anybody had black unpainted strips fitted as an extra?

My dealer ordered a set at my request...and they are grey! I'm convinced that they normally arrive at the dealers for fitting, in black.

Thanks.

Are they dark grey?

They are dark grey and not black as for example your car's paint job.

Ruin the car's looks? That is purely subjective. Do they work? yes, they have saved my Fabia's doors from many "accidents".

Paint them? that goes against the reason they are there in the first place.

You can get strips of the net that are painted , the fabia strips will look grey on a dark car

hi i had my monte delivered on the 29th dec 2012 and had the dealer fit the side strips they are darkgrey/black in colour they are not a perfect match for they monte,s skirting but damm close the skirting is gloss and the strips are like a satin finish check out my picture in the section off topic practice post with pictures i hope page no 10 ish hope this helps

If you have a Monte Carlo and want to fit the side mouldings the logical thing to do would be to paint them gloss black before fitting them.

Or mask around and spray them yourself, plasticote ?

You can do it yourself or let others do it if you're not confident, but a bit of foresight so they are done before fitting is to be preferred.

Foresight is a wonderful thing, however most people don't see the strips before they are fitted and naturally assume they are gloss black ?

i had side strip on my fab from factory but took them of recently and the car looks so much better imo and a lot easier to polish

No.They look at the Fabia's that have them as standard,Elegance model?,and see they are satin dark grey.

^^^^ so why friggin fit them ?

Exactly, you don't fit them when they are the wrong colour you paint them the correct colour before you fit them.

This is getting quite hilarious and making my day.

Happy that you're happy :) must be a very boring day though, a hobby might be useful :)

Who cares what colour they are? They look poor no matter what!

They are the same/similar colour as mud flaps, the lower fronter spoiler of standard fabias, the vents below the windscreen, the roof aerial, the front grile, the dark grey door handles of '1' or 's' trim fabias, and many other dark grey/almost charcoal black plastic trims.

They are not the same black as a metallic black magic paintwork or the black wheel arch trim/spoilers as the monte.

How about getting them painted to match the body colour or the black monte trim?

get a hot air gun, about 2 hours and a set of swingers and take the naff things of and then make a camp fire and chuck them on.:giggle::drunk: .

^^^^:D thing is the fabia from the side looks like a barn door, if you could get them colour matched to the car would be sweet, however it just a waste as you'll dink them instead of the car and will be spraying them endlessly
