Direct Line Registration Database Fault

Featured Replies

Just renewed our Yeti insurance with Direct Line today and went through the details over the phone and was asked to confirm that the car was a Yeti 110 Elegance. I said it was a 170 and to check the registration again and he confirmed that they had it as a 110!

I checked a couple of other sites using our registration and they all came up with it as a 170, so have no idea why Direct Line got it wrong.

On the renewal notice it simply states the car as being a "Skoda Yeti 2.0D Elegance". As we've had the policy with them for the past three years, I guess we've unbeknowingly been under insured.

For anyone else with a Yeti (or probably any other car) insured with Direct Line it would make sense to ensure they have the correct model and engine size for your car.

On another note, their database doesn't even list an A6 allroad at all. They've only been sold in the uk for something like 12 years (in small numbers granted, but even so . . . )!

Many cars are registered incorrectly, I dread to think how many cars are incorrectly insured in the country. It is incredibly common with imports as well.

This is another reason why you should always check your documents.

It most likely will not be unique to the insurer you mention either, insurers use a DVLA feed.

You are very welcome to PM me over the registration number and I will check on our system to see what comes up?

Kind regards

What does your v5 say?

The Octavia Sport had loads registered as ambient instead. Easy enough to sort with the dvla if wrong

in the event of a claim, could they turn round and say your insurance is void in this case rather than underinsured?
