Leaking door seals

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Driving back from Cardiff yesterday in the rain something caught my eye, then again, and again... It was a drip from the door seal, pushed the seal and a load of water sprayed out. Think passenger side is leaking as well - common issue?

Never mind, used the search function (handy :giggle: ) and found loads of instances of this happening. Getting it booked in to have it looked at.

I had the same on my old 10 plate Octavia Hatch. Had to get seals replaced

Same here. The odd drip comes through when it rains heavily. Never been enough for me to bother about tbh.

Same here but it has to be hammering down for it to be coming in the car.

Some guys have cured this by adjusting the door striker in a bit which also cures the popular wind noise too.

Car went in yesterday and they did some "stuff" (technical term) but wind noise is now worse than ever, haven't got the whistling noise, just really loud wind noise on drivers door. They adjusted the door on the hinge yesterday as part of all the "stuff" they did but it doesn't sit as flush as the passenger side?

Bodge job??

That drivers side looks way out now. I wouldn't be happy with that. No wonder you got wind noise now. I'd take it back if I was you.

Yup, I am - just waiting for a call back...

Booked in for Monday, earliest I can get a courtesy car.

On earlier cars this issue was fixed by replacing the seal

For this to still be an issue on a 2012 car is worrying, shame on Skoda.

I'd wait for your rear wiper to pack-up and get both issues fixed at the same time.

I would leave it, but going to Cardiff again next week and the way they have left the door and the noise atm is terrible so need it fixed. Spoke to the service person and he was quite upset and concerned that they didn't check it properly.

My comment was a little tongue-in-cheek, I too would be back there like a shot to get it fixed properly, and of course to accept the reduction they offer you on the next service as way of an apology ;)

Lol I was wondering why you were so sure it was going to fail. Sorry been a long day and went straight over my head lol.

Car went in yesterday for the wind noise issue, was supposed to be for 1 day but didn't get it finished yesterday so they had the car today as well.

So they compared the noise to another car, said it definitely wasn't right, taped up various bits to try and identify where it is making noise and tried to fix it. Haven't had a full motorway speed test yet, but so far a lot better than before. Really pleased with everything the dealers (Beadles Maidstone) have done so far and said if still not right then they will look at it again.

Driving to Cardiff tomorrow so should be a good enough test :)

Yes, I get it on mine occasionally. I did raise it a couple of times when it was in for services under warranty but never got anywhere. In reality it is an inbuilt design fault (along with the water that goes into the boot when you open the hatch too quickly in the rain). I made things better on mine by pushing in the top of the doors inwards (with the windows down) that seems to have made a slightly closer fit, and by keeping the rubber seals clean and extra water repellent by using stuff like Autoglym vinyl & rubber care solution.
