I'm going for a stage 1 remap.. Experts advice please

Featured Replies

Hey Guys,

I'm planning on going for a stage 1 remap through a Dub Unit specialist garage. My 05 fabia Vrs is completely standard, so will be expecting about 170bhp-180bhp.

I would like to get as much as i can out of a stage 1, so if i can push 180-185bhp that would be better (risky i know).

What else could i do to give me that extra bit of advantage on getting 180-185bhp? I don't want to be doing clutch, turbo etc, but is there anything cheap and easy like pd150 intake, or EGR delete or anything like that please?

Thanks,

Oli

If they are a specialist i doubt they would push it that much. Egr delete wont give you any extra power and its a pd160 you can fit to help breath abit but wont be looking at huge gains if any. If you can get 170bhp you should be more than happy with that figure, its the torque you should be looking at aswell with a nice smooth map so its nice and useable.

Also no im no expert but from experience i advice not to push your turbo to hard.

Nothing.intercooler will help keep intake temps sensible.

If I was to fit the pd160 intake, am i best to do that before then? Also when you say I probably won't see much of a gain are we talking 1-2bhp possibly?

I'd suggest you're focusing on the wrong thing entirely. A good map is all about the torque, if that's smooth then you will find it much more enjoyable to drive, 5bhp more bhp at the top of the rev range on a diesel won't. If you want Micky mouse numbers I can point you in the direction of an optimistic Dyno but you're wasting your time and money.

Your limiting factor on stock setup is the turbo. 170bhp nice safe smooth map, or a 190bhp map that will smash your turbo in a few months, choice if yours.

a pd160 wont make a difference before or after if its just a plug n play map.

The remap will be done on dyno, and been estimated 170-180bhp and 290+ lb torque. I guess I leave it with them and see what they get. And if the pd160 doesn't give me any gain I will leave that and just go for normal stage 1 with everything else standard
