Corroded Front Seat Tracks

Featured Replies

I bought a 2006 Fabia Estate and didn't notice until after I had handed over the cash, that the Drivers and Front passengers seat tracks were corroded, especially the Drivers. I unbolted the seats, (M10 splined bit is required) so I could get better access by leaning the seats back. I removed the worst of the rust and painted them with Hammerite paint. I don't know what caused the rusty tracks, poor Skoda manufacture, subjected to damp conditions, (leeking door seal), or perhaps lots of liquid such as Coke, which is corrosive, being split on them. Has anyone else encountered this problem.

almost certainly leaky rear door seals at some point i would of thought

I noticed mine have some corrosion too! I'm going to remove the seats and paint them once t warms up :)

If it's uniform front to back and left to right then it's probably poor paint unless it's been swimming.

I have had the same issue on both of the Fabias which I have owned. Must be a common problem.

I've got it around the front bolt on one passenger side track. It's been there for the six years I've had the car without getting any worse, but it's the job I never seem to get round to sorting out. Maybe this year?

Based on the replies so far I think the rusty front seat tracks are caused by poor Skoda quality, probably aided by damp.
