Fabia vRS Wheel 7 Suspension Info req'd

Featured Replies

1. What is the PCD/diameter etc of the standard alloys on the Fab vRS?

2. What is the widest rim you can fit under the arches without fouling (eg 7 x 17 or 8 x 16 etc)? Ideally I want to stay at 16" diameter, but go to a wider footprint...?

3. Does any manufacturer make an uprated/lowered spring kit for the Fabia vRS - I am concerned about ordering lower springs only to find that they are for non-vRS Fabias and I end up with the car no lower/stiffer than current!?

Hope you can help!

Thanks in advance

Martin

The Eibach springs you want are these and as Jon said, lower the car by 25mm. The dampers are common to the whole Fabia range so there are no specific vRS items :D

I know it's probably been asked before, but is there a huge difference between the Eibach dampers and the adjustable Koni ones that seem to be the other popular choice?

Is the adjustable-ness (??) worth it? I can't help but feel that the dampers shouldn't be standard across the Fabia range. Aren't the original vRS dampers uprated somehow over the rest of the fabia range anyway?

See this guide for a further discussion on suspention upgrades:

Thanks, I've already read it (lots, think I understand it all now). Sorry if i'm not meant to be asking this here. I just wanted to know people's experience with the 2 dampers and if it would be better to get the adjustable ones over non-adjustables.

This is not true. The Fabia RS has VAG "dampers for sport-type running gear" (Ibiza, Fabia, Polo).

I know because I had my front ones replaced and it took forever to get them as they are not stock items.

But the Eibach ones are the same for the Fabia TD & VRS.

That's because it's an upgrade and why make two different upgrades if you can make one that will work on both ;)

But from VAGs point of view it's all about comfort and target groups for a specific model so that's why they're not the same.

You could see it like this:

Fabia TDi = Comfort suspension

Fabia vRS = semi sport suspension

Upgrades = true sport suspension

Or you can look at it from the numpty angle,

TDi = OK, vRS = Better, Upgrades = Far better than the TDi stock ones, but not a lot better than the vRS ones. Basically putting both cars on the same type of suspension.

I did some research before I bought mine and decided that I didn't need adjustables as my car was unlikely to go on track, and I also couldn't justify the extra 100 quid premium. At the end of the day, Eibach will have matched and tested the springs and dampers so they should be fine - I've certainly no complaints :D

Chris

Thanks Chris, I may well save myself some cash and go for the Eibach dampers then (when I finally save some cash).
