Citgo No! Fabia Estate Yes!...

Featured Replies

As some of you know, I've been looking to change my Fabia Estate diesel for a new Citigo auto. Here's what happened at the weekend.

After a test drive (in the manual version) we loved the Citigo, except for the lack of serious rear legroom for tall people. It went well and it's difficult to fault the car. However, we didn't buy one due to the very poor deal on an Elegance we were offered. Our trade in value was also taking the micky somewhat with our chosen dealer (a good dealer by the way but not able to do much for us this time).

So my wife and I had those two issues, with space in the rear being somewhat limited for our needs (not intended as a critiscm of the car but more about our unrealistic expectations), and the cost to change being too high.

After a quick reassessment, we decided to buy a Skoda Approved previously owned Fabia Estate petrol with auto box. The dsg version would have been nice but we didn't want to spend that amount on one as we have another project on the go which we may need to throw money at in preference to a new car. We love our Fabia Estate but need the auto box for lots of reasons. We did an internet search and found one exactly fitting our needs. It has just 10,000 miles on the clock and has the 1.6 petrol engine with 6 speed auto Tiptronic box and lots of nice gadgets. Wife is pleased it's an automatic as she says she won't have to steer it anymore as that's a chor!! We are willing to forgo the massive mpg's we get at the moment in our diesel for the autobox.

The Fabia is good and solid and drove extremely well. We could equally have been driving a brand new car, it went that well with loads of power and a silky smooth auto box. These Skoda Approved cars come with a good Skoda warranty package for 12 months and RAC.

But the Citigo is a superb car. That's what I took away from all this, it's frankly incredible, but then you guys already know that!

I did it the other way around, went looking for a Fabia and ended up sold on a Citigo. Only difference is I didn't need the extra room in the rear. Only passengers in there from time to time will be the grandkids.

We needed a replacement for our X reg Corsa. The main criteria was it must take 4 adults. I'm 6'1 and the better half is only 5'6 but our two lads 19 & 22 are 6'4 and 6'3. we got them to go to the Skoda garage and were looking at the Fabia. However seeing the Citigo we all climbed in and whilst not masses of room we could all sit in with a little room to spare. Cheaper on insurance, plenty of spec and heated seats. That was the one thing she thought was a big bonus????? she was sold on it from then on. I have a L& K Ocky estate for my little luxury for the big stuff and the Citigo for all the shopping trips and to and from work for her (or me if I get a look in)?
