Dashboard changes

Featured Replies

Hi all, looking to buy a fabia brs by the end of may however the dashboard, and CD player etc is a major turn off for me!

Have any off you done some little cheap and easy changes to your dash? Fitted a double din unit? Or even fitted newer other model car parts to the dash to help make it look a bit more modern.

Pictures would be great of what you have done :)

The ultimate dream for me would be to have my ipad mini installed, and yes it can be done, YouTube it ;)

Thanks guy

I like the gloss black trim around the vents, the dash just looks very empty to me, especially up and over the top, some cup holders would have been nice up there or even a clock lol

This might be a long shot but can a newer style vw steering wheel fit in these? Or even a newer style skoda steering wheel but iv yet to see one in person lol.

How about this - not ipad mini but Nexus 7

That looks like a hell of a lot of work, just way to customised for my liking. I'm after more of the subtle approach really. But thanks for all the photos can get an idea of what I'm going to buy

Also, do leather seats from other cars fit? The white fabric in the standard vrs won't last me a week!

Both Karl and I have the mk4 golf r32 steering wheel

Seats from a polo 9n and Ibiza will be a direct fit. Possibly even the seats from n Audi a1

I fitted twin in dash cup holders out of a lupo

where did you go about buying the blue dash bulbs and is it a hard job to do?

its a very hard job, since they are surface mount LEDs soldered directly onto the circuit board. Needs complete disassembly and a very steady hand with a soldering iron otherwise your entire cluster is toast.

How ever, Dark-Hero and I think Karl (Korban) will change these for you for a fee. Just recieved my fabia elegance dash in the post today :p White needles will come in handy for mine. Although I work with electronics so will find it easier than most.

As mannyo says the main dials are surface mount LEDs and a few others are 3 mm LEDs. It is a case of full disassembly and solder work.

I did mine myself and as mike18clark says I can do it for you. I've done 3 other fabia's and 2 Octavias now :)

Sorry on my phone and autocorrect is pwp!

Sorry mate, just re read your post "some little cheap and easy changes". You can get some chrome air- con knobs and chrome rings to go round the dials to brighten it up a bit. As for head units most of the newer VW units are double din size but have a non "rectangular front" so will require some fettling to fit.

The facelift dash looks way better, keep thinking of swapping my pre fl dash out for a facelift one...
