CD Player Pause - anyone?

Featured Replies

Is there a pause function on the standard Octavia vRS "symphony" stereo?

I have tride all the buttons and still can't see one.

It doesn't mention anything in the manual either.

What a pile of poo if it hasn't got one!

What recomendations do you guys have for replacing it. I need something that will work with the CD changer.

Ta.

You are out of luck, there is no pause function. Even more out of luck is nothing works with the factory changer except some vag group headunits. TBH I cant recall any aftermarket headunit with a pause function on the cd player, even my

I laughed when I first read this thinking "A Cd player with no pause, what next.....?"

Then I remembered that to "pause" my Pioneer P77MP I have to switch the thing off...........

Guess in car CD doesn't ever need to be paused according to manufacturers!

Well, it shows how much of a dumb a55 I am.

This is the first incar cd player I've had (I had mini-disc, cassette and all other now nearly extinct technologies) and I was convinced that there should be a pause function.

What happens is, I could be driving along listening to my favourite track, stop to take/make a call and miss half the track. Then either spend five mins trying to find the flippin track position again or restart.

And to top it all off, I was even convinced that there should be a mute button!!

Now I KNOW head units exist with those on.

Why put 8 speakers in a car and then add the most crazy, plasticky (is that a word?), random buttoned, powerless head unit.

Grunt moan huff.

What you need is a properly installed car kit, or to work out how to fool the unit in to thinking you have. When I take a call, the unit mutes and if I'm listening to a cd, it pauses.

Not sure if you need to apply 12v or ground it, but information on the phone mute pin is here:

PS - doesn't just swithching the unit off mute and pause the CD anyway

It's what I do! 100% effective, at

Why not use the switch to radio button, that'll pause it alright :)

ok, was in car yesterday and tried the following:

1, Turn stereo off when cd playing.

Turn it back on and it resumes from where it left off.

2, Turn stereo to radio when cd playing.

Turn it back to cd and it resumes from where it left off.

So why was I so sure that it didn't do this the other day?

It looks like I have posted in error. Thanks anyway for pointing out my stupidity :o

Next week I'll work out the horn!

Just out of asking, can someone tell me where the cd changer lead runs from the head unit to the cd changer?

I am contemplating sticking in a new set and would like to know if I can run the new lead the same ways as the old one.

No problem, anytime :D

Ah, my favourite. Problems with the horn!

  • 4 weeks later...

The horn should be mounted securely on front grille using angle iron and employed against school children etc.
