Under use

Featured Replies

Iv recently brought a 1.4 16v fabia with 100k on the clocks off a woman driver who hasn't covered 5k in 3 years the egr and crankcase breather obviously need a clean but the engine seems (to me) to have Excessive gunk build up I'm changing the oil and filter tomorrow I know engine flush isn't Recommended on a car above 75k but is there anything i can use to help shift some gunk without the risk of clogging or damaging anything else???

Please help cheers Adam

Clean the breathers, change the oil, get it really hot, say 100 miles on dual or m/way at 70 indicated and then give it an Italian tune-up

I have a grate way to clean an old badly serviced engine used tested and safe todo steps below.

Parts required

New oil filter

New engine oil right grade for engine.

5 ltr of hydraulic oil.

Sump plug washer

Steps to carry out.

Get the engine to temp and remove lower shield etc so ready to drop old oil ASAP.

Drop old engine oil (hotter the old oil the better removes more out of the engine)

Leve draining for a good ten mins to get the max out you can.

Fill up engine with hydraulic oil run for about 5 mins.

Drop hydraulic oil( very very thin oil will drain out fast and should of cleaned every part up while also lubricating areas tht might have not been getting full lubrication with old oil due to how thin hydraulic oil is)

Leve oil about ten mins draining again.

Leve sump plug off put about Half a litre of new engine oil through engine to drain( this gets maximum of the hydraulic oil and old oil out)

Refit sump plug replace old oil filter put new oil in

Run up cheak level cheak for leaks all sorted brand new engine :)

This is what we do to cars with cars that have not had a good oil change in a while hydraulic oil is perfect becasue it Lubs very very well and due to it being so thin it gets behind all the old oil resadue and lifts it off to clean it. It's alot safer than engine flush plus I'd say does alot better job hope this helps

Sorry KenONiel didn't see your comment up the top there by the italian tune up do you give it a good hard dive up to the rev limiter through the gears then sit just below the rev limiter for a few miles in say 3rd gear so I'm not doubling the speed limit ;-)

No worrys am always hear to help
