Shark map wheelspin/smoke?

Featured Replies

mines spins 1st and 2nd in dry but in wet first 3 gears are a nightmare.

Try re-reading this yourself kid/bro etc etc etc

Now you're saying it does it occasionally? So it's hardly a nightmare then?

Now you're saying you had to make it wheel spin in 3rd? So it doesn't do it normally? So not a nightmare then?

  • I suggest that you all learn to control your addictions to putting your accelerators to the floor then wheel spin will become less of a problem!

  • when it spins in 3rd on this farm track, is there a lot of BS on the road?

worn tyres will make it spin up in the first 3 gears on a standard map. A greasy damp road with good tyres will make it spin up in the first 3 gears on a standard map. If you want to check if it's b

Tyre quality is also a variable I had SINGSONG ditchfinders on mine when i bought it, stuck rainsports on and the difference was night and day

Currently have kuhmo's on and they're even better

No problem! :-)

So do you get that surge???? becuase i'd say that would be a good indicator to whether it has been mapped or not?

Also, and this is by no means a dig at your driving, try and limit the amount of throttle used under 2000 rpm. Standard map or not, giving it any more the half throttle will not be good for you clutch or flywheel and especially if its on the standard map and its nasty torque spike will cause you to spin up.

just talking from past experience, I learnt alot from my first week of ownership :-p

I get a bit of a surge yeah to tell you the truth. I keep the wheels from spinning with the throttle 99% of time if you get me. All the tests I have done have been on purpose on a private road. Yeah I'm very careful as to when I give it has. I'm scared to death of nacking the clutch up. I rarely have the wheels spin up on public roads. Think my best bet is to get it plugged in and see what the crack is.

It's fine it won't slip straight away also I wanted a torque limit on my map so I chose less than 300ft/lbs so its pretty safe I've done 18k on my map and I've done some hard launches and my clutch is fine your clutch will probably survive a few miles up to 330ft/lbs but it all depends on how often you give it stick I like to use the power I'm the fabia to its best so 3 rd gear rolling 30mph- is the best it pulls really hard and it really don't put any strain on the clutch.

well it could be running standard map then?

I had this age old debate from day one, and because I have never been in another VRS I had nothing to compare it to.

ut

But when I did get it mapped it really was a different car. In the dry it spins up in 2nd gear very briefly and then digs in and pulls like a train (accelarating hard all above 2000 rpm)

I think there is a way of plugging in a VAG com and then logging one of the channels for boost pressure? but I don't know much about it so maybe do a little search on the forum or maybe one of the lads can step in and correct me?

what tyres you running on the fronts???

i dont think my vrs will be capable of wheel spin in 2nd or 3rd lol unless its on snow/ ice ..... on budget tyres the car was undrivable on anything other than a hot dry summers day. on decent tyres the car preforms much better .....

As for clutch / engine life etc .... the harder you drive it the quicker it will die. if you drive a mapped car sensibly it will last pretty much forever but if your always driving in the traffic light grand prix the clutch will soon start to suffer

Try re-reading this yourself kid/bro etc etc etc

just because I said "nightmare" doesn't mean it happens every second mate. Everybody is naturally assuming that I'm a rubbish driver that I can't even control wheel spin. Ill admit in rare situations in the wet I have accidentally given too much throttle resulting in wheel spin. I'm sure this happens to many of us on occasion. When I said I get wheel spin from 1st-3rd in the wet I know this because I have done tests on my uncles farm back road as part of my investigation of wether the car has been mapped or not. I have driven many cars all of which have been naturally aspirated engines and never had wheel spin past 2 gear which is why I exaggerate the wheel spin as a "nightmare". Which is why I asked the original question about the map. Listen I ain't going to sit here and argue with you. Judge me if you please you don't know me.

yeah as stated I'm very careful . If I ever give the car some boot I always make sure there's plenty of contact before giving it some.

Smiggi and holmsie you know you guys are literally neighbours right?? Holmsie is your car mapped? If so meet Liam (smiggi) and see if there's a difference or meet up and just compare you'll soon see a result difference if one of them has had some software fettling :) just and idea

Just goes to show one man's 'nightmare' is another man's 'rare occurence'

Or in general you're just prone to exaggeration

And no, I don't know you, but then I don't know any of the people on Jeremy Kyle

Certainly am bro :)

when it spins in 3rd on this farm track, is there a lot of BS on the road?
nah mate its Tarmac. Had it done about 4 years ago. Used to be gravel track but was knocking the suspension up on his car. I got the info I need anyway so that's it.

Mitt Romney has a bag for that

you obviously feel the need to carry this on. Tell me why is it that you instantly started having a go about me? I asked a honest question mate I didn't ask for an argument. Obviously you feel the need to take your insecurities out on other people . Just leave it man I got the answer I wanted from someone who actually took my question seriously.
