DRL Placement ?

Featured Replies

Any plans to wire up the front fogs?

I guess for the amount of time they are used its not worth the cost/effort, unless you'd like the 'cornering foglight function'!

To get the DRL's working did you wire them up/activate them using VCDS or just wire them up as with an aftermarket LED DRL kit?

I went for these in the end.....

They were a doddle to fit (once I RTFM, and realised that the easiest way to get to the back of the headlight was to pull the lever and withdraw it - after I had spent half an hour removing the air filter housing and trying to find a live feed into the back of the headlight !!!!!)

Although the below pic doesn't really do them justice...they are very bright and also fit perfectly in the lower grille...

Absolutely plus if the cheap ring units fail after you've cut your bumper thers no going back and you'll pray they are still available to replace!

The benefit of the OE units is as you said neat and tidy!

Phillip did you buy the led bulbs I suggested?

Did Skoda give away the drl/fog wiring behind the bumper?

Optic...I think you are referring to these..

In which case, no mate...I haven't touched the front fogs but am considering changing the VCDS setup so they come on as cornering lights ( I believe that can be done ???)

What I am thinking of next is changing the front sidelights to LED's as the existing ones now look yellow when illuminated with the new DRL's, and also changing the no. plate lights to LED's too....any recommendations ???

Not sure what you're referring to about the "wiring behind the bumper" ???

Hi,

I am not sure it will help, however I've converted Fog lamps into DRL on my Octavia MKII.

I've used converting kit available on eBay with device enabling ti dimm DRL when main lamps comes ON.

Firstly using cheap bulb replacement wasn't good and it didn't last second LED pair (£25) from another shop lasting over a year now.

No issues , MOT passed 2x
