Pre-FL and FL heater controls (non-climate control) compatible?

Featured Replies

Are the newer non-climate control heater controls compatible with the older one? The reason I ask is that my car has the older style dials and I think the newer black circles edged with silver look better (at least in pictures) plus there is definitely a trim available for them in silver that fits the Columbus.

Thanks,

John

Yes it is transferable just have to change a wire around not 100 which. Some where theres a tutorial on here.

I'm very interested in this aswell...I've been searching for an hour but no joy on that tutorial, my Google-fu is weak :(

Anybody with more info on that wire? Which trim panel would fit these controls, in conjunction with an Amundsen Satnav?

The part number for the newer FL style heater controls is 3T0 820 047 K/AB/M, if I'm not mistaken.

Trim panel might be this one from Superskoda;

The tutorial relates to the climate control. I dont know whether the standard heating panel is wired the same, but for the climate control, the live feed is changed from switched live to permanent live. I suggest you try and locate wiring diagrams for both pre fl and fl heater controls and see if there is a similar difference before going down this route. For the climate control tutorial, search for fl climatronic retrofit.

Hope that helps

Thanks Adam! I found that post, not knowing it was the one! Sadly it's the climatronic...wonder if the normal one works...

So here's my Pre-FL heater panel

And here's the Facelift version;

What do we think, viewers? :-)

No It won't unless you change other items

The pre-FL manual air con panel uses a mechanical cable to change where the air flow goes

The FL version is all electronic

Ah. it looked good on paper though ;) Thanks for the info Ed!

If anyone can dig out the climate control conversion from old to new tutorial/guide I would be grateful...have searched and found nothing

Thanks

Thank you

Thanks for the information, there's a user on here who has managed to fit the Columbus and found suitable trim for a VRS and manual A/C so hopefully I can find that trim and get the Columbus working with my current controls:

Not sure how to identify the nav trim though and not sure how to buy from Skoda teile either as I just get an error when I try to register or add the item to my basket.
