fuel filler flap, post fl - help please

Featured Replies

Murphy's law struck, I'm away from home for a few days and the fuel filler flap came adrift when filling up. I tried to fit it back but couldn't see where the spring clip fits. So although the flap is back in it's housing, it won't stay shut until the car is locked.

Any ideas how to fit the spring clip and get the flap to stay shut?

Thanks for any help.

Sorry, can't help on refitting as I've not managed to knock mine off yet.

Come on, fess up, how did you really break it!?

:giggle:

Aha, cheeky devil!:-)

Sadly, no real dramas. I just caught it with my hand while not really concentrating on what I was doing

at a funny angle. It went back in ok, but the spring mechanism doesn't work now.

I am surprised how easily the flap came adrift. Perhaps the previous owner had an issue with it

I have a spare saloon flap and filler assembly.

If you would like to take it of my hands let me know. I paid £15 plus postage for it.

Same price and it's yours. Only thing is it's yellow :-)

Cheers

Thanks man, but its more complicate to get it painted than being patient and trying to get in right color - stone grey #9151. But thanks again for offer!

Actually did some research - saw estate version in parking lot. Did some measurements and came to conclusion that it wont fit. Estate version is more curved than saloon one. So will continue looking!

I love my estate but will admit that flap is awful.....

Did you pop the spring out too? I did the same while filling up, nightmare! Managed to bend it back into shape and refit it though. Just aswell it can't be bought separately http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/277079-petrol-flap-problem/

Yeah, but the silly thing is that it only takes a few seconds to pop the flap back on with the spring in place - when you know how!!
