Phone help

Featured Replies

Hi all,

No sooner do I work out what to do about a camera (haven't got it yet) (see "camera advice" thread) then something else crops up.

This morning I managed to speak to my boss on my mobile. Then, when someone in the depot rang me up this afternoon, I answered the call...and heard nothing from the other end. I have tried again when I got home but although my mobile's mouthpiece works - so I can take from it - the earpiece within the phone has packed up completely. And I can't answer calls using the speakerphone in lieu because I can't hear anything off that either.

So I have to either replace or repair the phone I have, which is a Samsung Galaxy S. I have had it long enough for the warranty to be out so there is no hope from that quarter. And although I have an older phone back here I need one which will take apps as keeping in touch by email means I don't spend money on SMS: I am on a prepay tariff.

I have had the phone since October 2010 (so the warranty is deffo out as Samsung only give you 2 years of it) and it has never let me down until today. However I presume I won't get it repaired without having got some insurance on it (which I didn't). What hope therefore of getting something about the earpiece without paying a vast sum for the work?

Need to get this sorted for Monday if possible as work means I need to be able to look up train times from wherever I happen to be, hence having a smartphone.

Advice welcome.

Thanks,

Dave

I don't think you will find a cheaper solution than using the handsfree earpiece that came with the phone!

New speaker and fitting (by monday) will be expensive, prob more than a new cheap smartphone on pay as you go, and near impossible to find somewhere to do it in yhe timeframe.

Ig you have lost the handsfree lead then any mobile shop will be able to sell you one, either the cable one or a bluetooth one.

If your anywhere near northampton give me a shout as I still have mine from that phone.
