My second Roomster ordered.

Featured Replies

I'm about to take delivery of my second Roomster, my current PCP deal is ending soon and last week when taking the new Octavia for a test drive I started discussing numbers with the Skoda dealer in Leeds. They offered my a decent price against the Octavia but it was still out of my reach, I said that what I'd Really want is a Scout 1.2 DSG, they checked the computer which said yes! It turned out they had one for their stock available, it just needed shipping over from Germany so it would turn up in less than three weeks.

Added the option of an arm rest and parking sensors and deal done.

Three weeks wait is a slight improvement on the four months it took 3 years ago...

I forgot to ask, what are peoples long term opinion of the 1.2 TSI DSG?

Had my 1.2 DSG for close to 2 years and covered about 14k miles. So far so good. Fuel consumption pretty much what the brochure said it would be. Performance, there when you need it, not had any issues overtaking or with a loaded up car. 95% of gear changes go unnoticed, yes you can catch the car out but only when you would expect, sudden changes of pedal etc.

Certainly notice the engine loosen up after 5k miles, now gets to 7th gear at about 35mph, when new this would not happen until at least 40mph.

As long as you note where the revs have to be for instant power (or use S mode) you will not notice any lag, otherwise you have to wait for the engine to kick in the warp drive :-)

As above, similiar age and mileage, my only faults so far have been the erratic rear windows, sorted at 1st service, and the closure on the self opening roof blinds sorted at same service with stronger magnetic catches. I never open the things anyway as I find a glass roof which doesn't open a bit pointless. My wife wants another Roomster with the same spec when replacement looms, she is a nervous driver but she loves driving it. The gearbox and engine are well matched and we soon got used to the DSG, or it got used to us, not sure which, but it works well.
