Columbus firmware advice

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I have just retro fitted a columbus unit into my 57FL Octavia after changing the Can gateway ( thanks Ed) and to say i am pleased with it is a bit of an understatement, what i now need is advice as to what i can update the firmware to so i can get the most out of it and up to date maps. I have looked at the forums and its an information overload to me and i just need a simple answer and pointing in the right direction. I understand its an older unit and i'm not building my hopes up but if anyone has any advice i would appreciate the information. The unit was made in July 2010 and this is the current status in the units settings :

Delivery par number 3T0035680A

HW-Version H04

SW-Version 2764

SV SW-Version C_EU_9.242_1520

HW Vehicle 0xC001

Thank you

Jay

Same firmware i have and i run V9 maps i dont think there is any advantage on having the latest one 2724 seems to work perfectly.

Is it a main dealers job to purchase the v9 maps?

Mines a 2010 unit - fairly sure it is officially an 'A' unit - and I'm running the latest 40xx firmware with no issues.

Is very slightly faster than 38xx which I had before and does have more options on the sat nav (mostly address entry).

Any ideas where if get the link for that firmware?

thanks

+1 That's where I get mine from.

Me too, and I'm running a much older Columbus than yours Jay, on the 4024 firmware with no issues, and improved functionality (although admittedly I started from 1004, which was less advanced than the 2764 you are starting from). I did have to apply the steering wheel button fix mentioned here after applying the updated firmware: http://www.my-gti.com/3374/volkswagen-rns-510-firmware-upgrade-and-information, so if you have buttons and have issues be worth bearing that in mind.

The functionality gains are set out on these pages too.
