Beware Shark Blue

Featured Replies

I ordered a Skoda Superb Elegance in Shark Blue colour in January and was given a build date of week 10. The build date came and went with no news of the car.

It transpires that Skoda have problems with the Shark Blue paint pigmentation and are not building any cars in that colour at the moment and don't know when they will.

Just a pity that they didn't let my local dealer know!

This is my first foray into Skoda, having had BMW's previously, so although the dealer has been very helpful I am not impressed with Skoda UK so far...communication seems to be a problem.

Thanks for that post - I feel a phone call to the dealers coming on (though was on the cards already, but at least I know what questions to ask now).

My Yeti had been an uncomfirmed week 12, then wekk 13 for some time. Been getting a regular weekly call up 'til this week (the week it should be being built), now deafening silence!!!

Well, phoned dealers today & my week 13 (this week) build was confirmed towards end of last week.

I'm hoping all is well, but SUK will be getting an ear-full from me if they are holding back shark blue builds & not advising customers - might even be tempted to stir up some adverse publicity

Thanks for the heads up, I have a Superb Hatch 4x4 ordered in Shark Blue for delivery mid-end May, as yet i have recieved no build datem will check with the dealer after Easter weekend

Have just come off the phone from SUK & the build of my Shark Blue Yeti wasn't affected.

No issues with this colour according to the extremely helpful lady I spoke with, so it's either horse poo or Superb production line only.

I'm glad your Yeti was not affected. It was a very helpful lady at SUK that gave me the bad news. She also said there was only one Shark Blue Superb in the whole of the UK so something must be odd.

Odd is definitely the right word.

She was incredibly helpful in that she went to a lot of trouble to check & get back to me with the good news - she was, however, very diplomatic & guarded when I tried to 'widen' my enquiries - like getting blood out of a stone, SUK must be very proud!

Hope you get a good outcome!

Just received this today from my dealer

Unfortunately I have received a bulletin from Skoda informing us that they have stopped production of Shark Blue. There appears to be a quality issue with them.

Shark Blue unavailable for Superb

Shark Blue has been removed from ordering for Superb because of quality problems. We’ll let you know when it can be ordered again.

If you have a 2nd choice of colour I will action it and try and get a priority build.

Apologies on behalf of myself but as I hope you understand this is something out of our control and is a factory issue.

Following this e-mail the conversation we had implied that no more of the current model would be available in Shark Blue, I have now changed my order to white which was always high on my choices list anyway

Good choice MLJ!!

I was correct then with my original post.

Anyway I took delivery of a Rosso Brunello Elegance Estate on Saturday and I am very happy with it.

As I collected it the dealer also confirmed that he had just received the alert about the Shark Blue too.

It seems odd that they can use the paint OK on the Yeti but not on the Superb.
