AW Fabia is going as soon as I can get a good deal on new, or nearly new, Yeti Elegance.

Needed replacement front tyres as Continentals had got low after 35,000 miles - good value!

"Which?" recommended Nexen for reasonable qualities in most areas including wet road grip so I have just had 2 on the front despite "Which?" saying their wear rate was not as good as some. I only need upto 6 months use 'cos should find that Yeti by then.

Will keep you-all posted on how I get on with them.

Will be sorry to see Fabia go as it's been so reliable over 50,000 plus miles.

Anyone know of good Yeti deals?

I was using Nexen and they had no grip whatsoever compared to good quality tyres...

Have had Nexens on front for couple of months, now.

O.K. for wet grip & noise compared to previous Conti's.

No balance issues. Look the part.

Obviously, I can't comment on wear rate, yet, but as long as they last 'til Yeti arrives Aug/Sept....

This week Auto Express gave Nexen a good write-up so they must be one of the better 'budget' tyres.

You can make an 'initial price' saving but 'Which?' Did say they wear quicker than some premium tyres.

with the milage and with the kids in the car i can't justify budget tyres!

Budgets are fine until you cost them per mile then they become more expensive than premium tyres making them a false economy.

Matador make some a decent budget tyres, they are owned by Continental and often get decent reviews. I know a couple of people who have fitted them and they rate them highly.

My choice while not exactly budget are Avon Zv5 You really can't go wrong with these tyres at a good price too. something like 83% dry grip and 81% wet grip they out perform many tyres and won't break the bank. Another plus is that they run very smoothly and are quiet. Plus they are made in the UK!!

Why not go for Uniroyals, either Rainsport 2s or RainExpert. They are owned by Continental and ain't that more expensive than budgets. They should give a lot better grip in the wet (as name suggest) and be far safer.

I like RS2s so much I'm now onto my second pair.

First thing i look at when buying a car is the tyres. The way I look at it, if its got cheap ditchfinders on, then its probably not been looked after.

Agree with the above, especially on a car that has some 'go fast potential'

Have just put some Fulda's on the C1.Seem very reasonable for a German tyre.A more well known band in europe than here.

never put ditch finders on your car ever its the only thing that keeps u on the road,

desent tyres are the only way to go get the most you can afford it also works out cheaper in the long term.

Also Barum's are decent, cheap and part of Continental.
