Cold air intake / induction kit on a TDI. Bad?

Featured Replies

I can't remember the reasons know, may have been MAF related, but why does no-one have these carbonio type air intake kits on their TDIs? Is it just a lack of kits that work? I may need to fit one soon, thats all.

Also will have to find a good place to pipe in the air from too. :o

There's not much increase in power compared with the standard airbox.

Theres no benifit to having a dynatwist or similar.. it can actually reduce power unless you get the routing right

but IF I'm forced to get one due to the FMIC blocking off the natural OEM intake pipe route, then I just wondered about it really. Wondering what sort of materials I could use to pipe air in from lower down in the bumper, if I had to...

Hmmm, the carbonio system on awesome GTI looks nice. Says it'll do the octy TDI, so reckon it might be good for mine too.

Jase, what do Allard recommend as they probably know they'll have had to make similar mods to any cars which they've fitted their intercooler too :D Worst case, you could always fit some Scooby-style bonnet scoops to channel cold air into the air box ;)
