Hammerite on alloy wheels?

Featured Replies

Jon? You used it right? Did it usually stick on OK? Any kind of prep work needed or special conditions for it to work well?

I have a little "plan" with two pairs of alloys I have here - All are a bit tatty, and two different styles, but I figured if I got them matching colour wise they'd be quite nice as track wheels. Also, one pair is 7.5s which I'd use on the front, and the other are 8.0s which would be sweet on the back. :D

So, Hammerite? Pikey mod no. 5? ;)

 I WAS going to be ;)

Can Hammerite from a tin just be "put" into a sprayer? I have a mate with a compressor and all the gear. :D DIdn't think about using a primer as well, so shall see. ;)

You can guess which colour Hammerite I'm thinking of using. :o

pink?

Lime green?

Just seen an Astra with gold Hammerite brushed on its alloys. Looked awful - runs and sags everywhere. Ruined what were once half-decent wheels.

Go for it, just hand paint the same colour as the brake calipers.

They were ruined when they were put on the Ashtray!

Why don't you go for the "co-ordinated" look, buy a 5 gallon tub of hammerite and a 2.5 inch paint brush and slap it all over the entire car?

(You chav) :D

Hammerite is well thick too!!!! Good protection for the whole car....will never rust!!

Painted a garage door with it once, felt like I used a bottle of white spirit to thin to the consistency of tar!!!!:D
