Double Checking Dump valve fitting

Featured Replies

I was told before that fitting the forge 007p like this was ok, but just want to make sure,

DumpValve.jpg

it fits better this way, as the pipe on the right hand side (when turned around) gets squashed flat.

it is ok that way but was designed to be the other way

Thats not right..

No that's incorrect. And Forge do a side exit top for the 007p so vac pipe doesn't get squashed.

thanks will have a look on forge now

will I be ok running it this way for a few weeks, only doing about 20 miles a week atm, so not major mileage

Ran mine the normal way and pipe was a little squashed but never actually caused a problem. Other than that install the right way and leave the cover off for a week or two instead. They sound awful that way round.

Mine doesnt sound much different from the right way round tbh, and when you say run with the cover off do you mean the engine cover ? (as thats never on anyway) mines just squised as soon as I put the pipe on the DV I guess I could get some pipe and extend the vac pipe but that would look a little messy

Yeah the engine cover, they usually sound really high pitched when reversed, you should have enough slack to allow it to fit the right way around, check that vac line is not caught on something further down the line.

I did have a look when trying to fit it before but couldnt see anything, but will another look incase I missed anything,

excuse the music, thats how it sound with it reversed

Doesn't sound too bad strangely ??

Unless the CAI is helping it, mine sounded a lot higher pitched than that.

thats what I mean I had read that the noise is quite different from the standard way around, but i didnt notice any difference in noise,

But am I doing any damage to anything running it this way, Forge says its ok just noisier, and some have said its no good some say its ok, so quite confused,

As far as I know it's just the noise that is different, don't panic

cheers mate that's what I was hoping to hear,

Yes it ain't gonna make a difference. Just more noise or less noise, tons of posts on various forums about it and on Forges website says pretty much the same!

The recirc dv can run either way with no issues. The way you have it is not the most preferred as that way on most dv makes dv sound like a cat on heat lol.

It certainly does with the forge dv. Also if you are running without plastic engine cover you should have no issues with the pipe crushing or hitting anything.

thanks I am running a Forge 007P and the noise it makes is in the video above, I couldnt tell any difference between both ways, but the pipe was squashed when fitted the normal way around without the engine cover on, like the pipe was slightly too short.. so it was bent in like a V shape.. hence me turning it around to free it up..

  • 4 weeks later...

When I tried my 008 Forge reversed it only made a different 'metallic chirp' noise when you let it off at high revs with wide open throttle. If you let the gas off lower down it just makes a quieter whoosh than when its fitted the correct way around.
