Servicing intervals for the new 2.0CR 150bhp engine

Featured Replies

Cheers V6, ur always a good source of info. I expect we'll get the usual 4 year 80k sales pitch for the cam belt! Any info on spark plugs?

Nope, just asked for the big diesel :)

Great info,I hate the usual Skoda uk time limits on timing belts,Skoda Ireland never had time limits.

Looks like servicing will be quiet cheap though, I don't really agree on the air and fuel filter interval though, very long! But that's just from a mechanics point of view.

Its nice to see a longer interval on the cambelt though.

Also at the moment there has been the comment that the cambelts on the petrol are fitted for LIFE!! So again it will be interesting to see what SUK will have to say on that.

Cambelt interval is same as for current 1.6CR, it is the new Conti belt drive. I agree on the air/fuel filters, if I get this engine I'll replace them twice as often. Unless I see a sparkling clean air filter housing in my Roomster's 1.6CR during the next service, but somehow I doubt it.

I do the fuel filter on every second oil change (30,000kms) and it is usually filthy!!! My K&N gets cleaned and re-oiled on every second oil change as well. The long life timing belt is very good news.

Same as the current Octy then.... :wonder:

That's what I thought..................I'm sure my manual says well over 100k miles before cambelt is replaced.....................

The difference is that you actually do have a service jobs list in the Octy 2 service schedule book to look at. The (probably very similar) jobs list is completely missing from the Octavia 3 and the Rapid Service Schedule booklets.

Re belt time interval (or lack of it), anything using the new-ish Conti belt drive will be rated in excess of 130k miles, I know the 1.6CR has had 130k from start, early 2.0CRs had shorter interval, the 150bhp unit does have 130k. SUK still says 4 years belt change "recommended", they offered a rather exotic explanation, but I won't quote it until they reply, suffice to say I had a good laugh reading it.

Just picked up on this topic as I collected my 64 Octavia (09/2014) L & K last Monday and fully subscribe to the comments about lack of detail in what work's to be done on each service. Walking through treacle in trying to get this info from Lookers at Stockport who's sales staff seem to have little idea what's required. Also trying to get printed verification of the service done - same problem! I wondered if there's been any updates from last April on the info in the previous posts. Be grateful to know if there is. Thanks

The service schedule is fairly simple up to about 60k isn't it - suck oil out of engine because removing undertray takes too long. Replace oil filter. Refill with oil. Replace dipstick with a random one you have found lying around from a different car. Tell customer they new need new discs and pads irrespective of mileage. If this is classed as an inspection service charge more for the same parts and Labour as an oil change service.

Managed to winkle out info at last from Skoda on the service intervals for the various items on the first post by dieselV6 and this confirms his figures pretty accurately. Time periods correspond and mileages are rounded up slightly - 18700 becomes 20000; 37000 to 40000; 56000 to 60000; 130000 for timing belt becomes 140000 or 5 years which is rather academic really. One snag to having servicing done independently may be resetting the servicing interval with a non-Skoda computer. I have a brilliant local mechanic who's done my wife's car and mine for the last 15 years but his computer couldn't reset my previous car - a Seat Exeo Sport - which doesn't matter too much on fixed servicing but is important for variable servicing. Any help on this would be appreciated. As far as I know, servicing by an independent garage doesn't invalidate the warranty.

...just so it was readable. :)

Yes the 15k/30k km intervals translate directly to miles in the cars computer as its literally converted. Real intervals in UK are indeed 10k/20k intervals for fixed/variable. You can go over a bit too and Skoda dont typically mind v much so long as its not excessive.
