Chrome grill removal advice

Featured Replies

I'm gonna have a go at prying the chrome grill off today, I have read on here that it will come of with a flat head screwdriver.

I have marked where I think the clips are on this picture

Is that right??

Should I pry the clips from under the bonnet or from the front?

Any advice before I start?

I removed the complete grille to work on it in the house, less fiddly when on your lap!

Just need a torq bit and 8mm spanner to remove bonnet release I think?

But yes those arrows look about right from memory!

LoL just been and removed it, didn't even take 5 mins

Went from underneath and didn't break 1 clip!

My word what a PITA

First time I have ever wrapped anything and close up you can tell, but it will have to do for a while.

Having a go at wrapping one this week was it hard? Any advice ? :p

Was it hard?

Erm well it wasn't easy, it was quite frustrating at some points.

I tried to do it with one piece but I couldn't get it to sit right when finishing so there is one cut at the very bottom middle of the grill which helped, I would have prefered no cut's but I couldn't do it :(

Advise,

1, Be patient

2, Hair dryer really helps with getting around the corners

3, any little chips or faults in the chrome will show through the wrap so make sure it's smooth

4, Grow some more hands an extra 4 should help

I will get some pic's with it on the car tomorrow

Awww that looks great! I did mine ages ago in matt black but would be nice if i could get a diamond silver vinyl to match to the paint that does look very smart indeed!

I was unsure what to use, and had read on here about plasti dip but this was a spur of the moment thing on a day off so no chance of getting any so off I went to B&Q and I was looking at tins of plastikote but had read on here that its not very good so had a quick mooch around and they had some black gloss vinyl just under 8 quid so I thought I would try it.

Deffo better than chrome!!

Looks good I need to do mine. Didn't want matt but that looks a good colour match, will have to nip to b&q
