another oil issue

Featured Replies

6 weeks ownership,1200 miles and has used just short of 1.5litres

fortunately its going in for some warranty work so shall be bringing up the oil consumption

its a shame really, cos I really like the car

any bets they say its just the engine bedding in

What sort of driving is it getting?

Did you check the oil level yourself at the start of the 1200 miles, and you are not overfilling are you?

Please tell what sort of Warranty Work?

Holy good god..... that is a serious amount of oil usage. Why is it that only the VRS units appear to have this issue. My 1.6CR Elegance has not used a drop of oil since i last checked it.... about 9 months ago (this thread got me to check it !!).

Where is all this oil going too ?

bedding in ...... its done 13000 miles

checked the oil when I got home from picking it up and then every two weeks keeping it within the large "can fill section" and not going into the "dont fill" - the warranty work was a worn door seal (2 large splits) and a smell coming from air vents, which I think must be the oil being burnt

never had a car that used oil but I'm glad I keep checking, because it wasnt even showing on the measure on the dipstick and it was half way two weeks ago!

Any car or bike that uses that much oil is not for me, i always worry what damage its doing to the engine internals.... and also my cash flow with buying all the oil !

There is damaged to the faulty ones,

(there is a manufacturing fault with parts, which Skoda/VAG know about.)

that is why they are getting new engines now and people are getting that checked before the warranty is out.

For UK Skodas that is August for the first ones getting to 3 years old.

When they use Oil, Skoda have had to provide or reimburse owners for the High Oil usage.
