Just been offered 5k for....

Part exchanging the octy vrs for what can only be described as an excellent example of.............. 2000(W) reg Porsche Boxster 2.7 with 32K miles on the clock and full Porsche main dealer history priced up for

i'd keep the octavia myself, thats a lot of money for something that you dont seem so keen

Save up and buy the 3.2, the 2.7 is very sluggish compared with the proper one. I had the 2.7 for 2 years and it spent a lot of time with the dealer for various faults. I think if I knew then what I know now I'd go for a TVR Chimera or similar. Both have the same down time.

I would have said yes if it was the mondeo that they offered as part exchange, but I don't think the octy is worth that little.

The 3.2 is the Boxter S. The 2.7 is the regular Boxter. A beginner's Porsche really, the Boxter series.

Would that mean that you couldnt be a moderator , not owning a Skoda ;):)

:orb_lol:

don't think i agree about the boxster being a newbie porsche myself, supposed to be very good so i hear. very good handeling and a very enjoable drive

Dude, it's the cheapest porsche available, and every other person in this country who has 100,000 dhs in his pocket goes and buys one just for the sake of owning a Porsche. It is nothing compared to the real deal like the 911 and Targa and GT3..in other words, it is a low end entry-level porsche model...it may be good, but still, the way BMW flopped with the Z3 (though it sold like hot cakes), Porsche flopped with the Boxter (though it sold like hot cakes too).

don't deny that its the cheapest just thought you were saying its a bit rubbish, i'm pretty sure it would kick the ass of both our cars on a track :P

and i think comparing a boxster to a GT3 is a bit like comparing a 1.2 fabia to the octavia vRS

Surely that's the Cayenne ;) The Boxter was designed without the fundamental flaw of having the engine too far back as in the 911, so it is perfectly balanced....... :D It may be "cheap", but it's in no way a flop, imho! ;)

Chris

I can't wait to see the new Cayman....I've seen pics of it and it looks real good...

Porsche should have never produced the Boxter in my opinion...oh well...never said it was rubbish, it's just the model I don't like from Porsche..

Oh ... the good old Porsche virus ...

Have been endangered since i started playing with toy cars as a nipper.

Got seriously infected in 1999 as i had the honour and joy to drive a

993 GT3 Supercup ....

About 5 years ahead to save money for a used 1992 964 model.

And if I buy one ( If no marriage or fathership spoils it ..)

My poor octy, its now minus all its stickers except the Briskoda one in the back window, no ring sticker or brunters sticker in sight.

Went to dealer today to try and see if I could sort something out, ended up following a Boxster down the A1(M). Got there and they where closed, is this a sign I wonder.

My mind is telling me to buy the car, but my heart is saying other things as it will be a sad day when we part.

The octy is 4 years old now, and it seems like a good time to sell before the new vRS comes out. I could buy the porsche and if I dont like it later in the year, I could sell it for not much less than I am paying for it and buy the new octy vRS.

Manny - your mind is telling you to buy the Porsche but heart says not.. isnt it supposed to be the other way round? ;)

Just go on and do it, Manny ...

If you can afford the running costs and get well along with it..

Sure you know what you have with the octy ... But kind of

falling in love with a new car is a different thing.

How much would you get then, selling the octy apart from the excange ?

BTW : A new Ring Sticker might be no problem, mate :D

Awww gee leave him alone the guy loves his octavia...it's been his baby for four years now...

:agree:

Manny, my advice is this. If you can answer No to the following then get the Porsche. If the answer is Yes, keep the Octy.

1. Are you married to a woman who nags you mercillessly Y/N

2. Do you have a load of screaming kids running about the place Y/N

3. I can't think of anymore

:D

Jimmy, the answer to all your questions is No.

FabiaTDI, you are of course right. Must be the beer confusing my mind.

I'll give them a call in the morning to see if they still have the car, if not I guess another simillar one will crop up. I Have thought about selling since last year, just keep putting it off, it would be nice to get one before the winter though.

I'll bung the octy in the for sale section, although its proberbly not the best place and someone will get a bargain. The dealer reckons I could get

But we are talking about a Porsche .... :D:D:D

After owning one for 28 mths, I'd say enjoy it but get a good warranty with it, the one I had was new and mildly troublesome. Mind you with Octy coilpacks they may be the same. Most of the gremlins in mine were electrical with a few bad rattles thrown in, the electrical ones can cost quite a bit for the diagnostic work.

They had sold the car, still I went to the local skoda dealer today to talk prices and things and he said that the other dealer seemed to be trying to pull a fast one. He would have bought mine off me for cash and given more than what the other dealer had offered as p/x, only problem he currently has 3 on the forecourt. He is going to keep me in mind though if someone comes in wanting a red one.

Manny,

It's a crap price for the Octy, I got more than that for mine :(

As for the Porker, 3.2 is the way to go.

Jon

having got one myself in the last 3 months and having tested many including the 2.7 i would say try and get a 3.2 S.

it has the extra go and the brakes are amazing.

as as to the fact that Porsche should never had made the Boxster,if they hadn't made it Porsche as the manufacturer we know now wouldn't be here and producing cars like the Cayman which is about to be released.

and Mannyo just get one!!!!
