Springs & Shocks & Other Upgrades

Featured Replies

I'm looking into future suspension upgrades. A Whiteline RARB is definitely on the cards, the car is already polybushed with Powerflex bushes, so now I'm looking at suspension itself to firm up the handling while keeping the ride comfort decent. After reading a few dodgy stories about coilovers and ride comfort, and being unsure about how long my shock absorbers would last with lowering springs, I've decided to go for a springs and shocks set, replacing front top mounts at the same time (anything on the rear that can get replaced at the same time?). It's a daily driver but I would like to take it on a track day one day and for it to have half-decent handling.

I'm currently stuck between three sets on DPM Performance: AP, Apex and Vogtland. I've read a thread about Vogtland springs and shocks that grr666 did and they sound promising. Does anyone have any experiences of the AP or Apex sets (or Vogtland as well) and which one would you recommend?

Also, is a front strut brace worth it? Does that affect the ride quality much?

Not asking for much am I!

I had AP shocks and springs on my lupo gti!

Very good setup! Alot better than crashing around on cheap ass coilovers thats for sure!

Good quality too

Ive bought the Vogtland kit from DPM.

Also read grr666 reports.

Sound promising!

Just need the weather to fit them now!!

Sorry doesnt really help you cos can't comment on ride etc!!!

Did you see my suspension upgrade post?

I did indeed. Seems to be a great combo, but just too expensive for me unfortunately.
