seat toledo needs a new engine and turbo

Featured Replies

i have an 03 plate seat toledo SE thats done 87k. the turbo gave out and the replacement and mechanic finished the engine off 9 miles later, along with the brand new turbo.

so after i stopped crying into my hands. my next job is to get another asv engine, turbo, injector pump and injectors (as were wondering if the pump is ok).

1) is it worth it? i can get another mechanic to fit the engine for £200.

2) should i just cut my losses and scrap? seems a shame as i cant find that sort of milage on any second hand ones.

The problem is trying to find the engine, most diesels that are being broken are due to the high mileage, doubt that you'd get your cash back either. I'd cut your losses and look for a low mileage octy or toledo and break the old car after you've got the new one so you can swap bits around

I would get the bloody muppet that finished the engine off to fix it,

Its very rare for a car with turbo failure to take the engine out aswell unless its run on its own oil to distruction with the original turbo,

What did he exactly do to the engine and the brand new turbo???

My guess is didn't check for any debris in the oil and coolant

he didnt flush the intercooler out, even after i questioned it, just said take it steady no fast driving for a few miles/days. it did run up on something as i couldnt slow the engine down. it went at about 3800 rpm. i was logging with vcds at the time.

That's disgusting your mechanic should pay for all the damages. It's not rocket science
