Lowered Suspension with a Loaded Car

Featured Replies

My Suspension will be due soon for replacement on my PD100 and I would really like to go a touch lower, to what I would think it should of looked like from the Factory!

Coilovers fom what I have read are out of the question, reading other posts, the Vogtland Springs and Shocks package has really caught my eye. But! 80% of the time it will be Two Adults and a Child in the Car for normal Travel and 20% will be a Boot and 320L Roof Box full of Holiday/Camping gear. Sorry to go on, but would Lowered Suspension not be suitable for my needs?

What size wheels and tyres are on your car mate?

My old Ibiza had coilovers on with 205 45 16 tyres, and only ever scrubbed twice and that was with four adults and all their gear going to Trax one year! And they were weird dips in the road doing 70mph on a main road. The other 200 miles of the journey were fine!

It was quite low too, and had 20mm spacers on the rear.

This was how it usually sat

And with 4 people in it :D

Mine on coilovers running 5mm spacers on rear. I have 2 kids in and a boot full of tools and it never catches. If you have the right offset wheels it should be fine, on the 10+ cars I've had lowered only my corsa gsi scraped due to wrong offset on wheels

-70mm on coilovers with errrrr .................a boot full :giggle:

Thanks for all of your replies!

There are some very low and full ones here (jonny5ive i'm looking at you!). You've reassured me that I should have no problems with this, so once again thank you all for your honest advice :-)
