N reg 1.3 felicia starting problem

My felicia has developed a fault whereby when i turn the ignition the engine revs but then cuts out about half a second later. Sometimes it starts normally and when it does it seems to run fine. It seems that depressing the accelerator pedal during ignition seems to help it start.

I thought it might be an immobiliser fault but I don't have a spare key.

Any thoughts?

Not sure I can follow the logic of that. So you thought immobilizer is bad, but since you don't have a spare key you reconsidered your judgment and decided immobilizer is good?

Anyway, my guess is you have a faulty ignition switch that triggers an immobilizer issue.

sounds like immobilizer to me you could try getting a key cut and they can clone the chip but if it is the immobilizer its self you can just swap the ecu and immobilizer box and chip... plug car in to vag com... mine does this due to the alarm it has
