Thinking of ordering a monte!

Featured Replies

hi all,

Right, I'm looking to place an order for a 1.2tsi 105 Monte Carlo but i am unsure of a few things. These things being 1) whats it like performance wise? ( downsizing from a mk1 Octavia vrs so this is slightly important) 2) what colour should i get? ( i know this is personal choice and what not but the problem is, red fades (my favorite) over time and being one of the cost free options along with white is there less coats applied like the vauxhall corsas cost free paint is? 3) What options do you guys suggest? The ones im thinking of are

MFSW with small leather pack (radio only)

maxidot

climatronic

3rd rear headrest

esp/asr

rear elec windows

5 year extended warranty

Also the pros/cons of the fabia Monte Carlo and the 1.2tsi engine.

This is a question that you cant really answer but how much a month would it be roughly if it is £15,885 before the 0 VAT offer?

i would appreciate any answers

Many Thanks

Shane

Red doesn't fade - it does in vans etc due to no laquer.

Performance wise is pretty good for a 1.2, you may find it wanting compared to a vrs but its pretty good.

Options you've picked seen spot on.

Price wise, what deposit and pcp or hp? Anything from £160 pcp to £300 hp.

Performance then as above it's not going to match a 1.8T 20v, however it's a nippy smooth motor.

Colour ours is white and we also liked the red but with a previous corrida red Skoda it seemed to show up chips and light scratches, which the lighter colour doesn't so much; bonnet can be prone to chipping due to its angle.

Options wise a good list, however the climate control functionality is no better really than the standard set-up, so down to appearance; dials or a digital screen and the ESP for us anyway is always a must have but we went for the ESP+ pack, as there are a few hills round here and the HHC is a useful edition.

Oh I understand at the moment you can get a Special Special Edition of the Monte; Monte Carlo Tech, which looks really good value with sat nav and bluetooth but whether you can add other options I don't know.

re Red.

Small point.

Almost all modern Reds do not Fade, due to changed Pigments.

The real proof of the pudding will come after a few more years.

Plenty of 5 year old red cars with lacquer still fading, and Orange cars, which have a very similar pigment.

You often only know how bad a car has faded when you go to match the paint,

& Red on Metal or Plastics can have big changes over time, even when, Polished, Waxed and Protected.

Royal Mail vans are the Worst you might see, but Plenty of Bad Red Vauxhall cars out there.

Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Ferrari were maybe the first in there with Better Quality Red and many basic Fiats were

given very good quality paint as part of the trials.

These were often Hire cars etc were they might not have been getting the best care, and many 15 year old ones are still sitting with nice red paint.

Ferrari still have 2 standards of red available, or did till very recently.

I used to never buy red cars & now its my prefered colour for easy touch ups, and i am a car sprayer.

I have 2 orange cars which were sprayed with very expensive paint that should not have faded,

they actually are fading badly and these are lacquered and well Waxed.
