Anyone created a sun lounger from a car seat?

Featured Replies

I have two Fabia vRS front seats (without subframes) and thinking surely it would be cool to make a sun lounger out of them (after a good clean!?)

Anyone done it? I know someone who made an office chair out of his old MR2 seat but just wondered.

How hard do you think it would be?

if your going to do it, do it properly

should be electric and have heating, perfect for any conservatory

Electric is a good idea!

Not sure about the heated part, as it would be for summer so should be warm enough (he says whilst in england)

I had the same idea when I removed my front seats to clean them. I sat in one in the living room and for some reason it's so much more comfortable than when it's fitted in the car! Underseat drawers should also be fitted to every sofa, perfect for the remote :giggle:

I also thought of turning one of the smaller rear seat bases (if you have 60/40 split seats) into a matching footstool. B)

Great idea - I have a spare pair of Octy front seats. Unlikely to pass SWMBO approval for use in the house/garden though :D

Yeah I did get a rather funny look when I said my plan.

So anyone got an ideas? I dont have the "base" part for it anyway. So its jsut the two parts of foam for the most part, hinge and lock between them with support arms to lift it off the deck? Or....

This one's made out of the same stuff used for handrails for public stairways etc, made to order and probably quite cheap!

Yep, that sort of arrangement would work. Looks good; reminds me of the ones in the TopGear studio.

I've got the full seats, frame, rails etc - so could just stick some castors on them really!!

Never made the seats but i quite fancy making a V8 table.

How about making a car seat out of a sun lounger B)
