Ive recently bought a 05 fsi vrs octavia, ive just become aware of a tapping noise from the engine when idling, it may still be there when revving the engine but unable to hear it through the the noise of the accelerating engine, has anybody any ideas what it is or maybe, im becoming concerned about it and hoping its just what this model does. All answers would be appreciated. Thanks

If the noise appears to be coming from the driver side near the wing. It is probably the evap system valve. Nothing to worry about if it is.

Hello Alex. Without hearing the noise it's impossible to say exactly what it might be, but they do sound a bit nasty on idle. Most likely nothing to worry about. My FSI sounded like a diesel at idle.
