What you reckon?

Hi all

Ok so dealer has kindly thrown in supaguard treatment on my new buy. It's actually made no difference to the price I had already negotiated which was £2057 off, anyway.

A little background info is that I'm really into car detailing and have most of the kit including orbital polishing machines so forth and dabble in paint correction methods (when I get time)

In the showroom the cars that the garages valets have prepped have been excellent, having spent a while in there once whilst they took my trade in out I got real a good look around one and couldn't see a mark on it with any angle of light.

So I'm not sure if I'm to snub it and say no thanks don't touch my new car, and go away and do what I will with it. Or just let then do it and hope it comes out as good as the showroom cars?

Has anyone had a car done with it and what's it been like to wash, then maintain the shine? Any improvement. I know this stuff will probably wash off after a few warm autoglym car shampoo washes, but if its free?

Also, anyone got any pictures of killer clean white cars? Just so I can see what I should be achieving...

Cheers people :-)

I had `Superguard` put on a new Honda I bought 3 years ago, and I had `AG Lifeshine` put on my current car 9 months ago. Of the 2 I much prefer the `AG Lifeshine. Having said that, having learnt quite a bit about car detailing from this forum, I would not have it done on another car I bought...even if it was free. I would much prefer to do it myself and know what's going on my paint. Being as you seem to have all the kit...maybe you should do the same. Its obviously your choice of course.

Best of luck with it.

Mike.

I had Supaguard put on mine, thought it was pretty good to be honest. Even after 4+ years, water still beaded off the paintwork and I was only doing the ocassional polish and wax. I did use the Supaguard Paintseal cream a couple of times too (they give you a handy bag of products to take away with you).

Sounds like you'll be giving it a lot more TLC though, so it'll be immaculate looking whether it's been Supaguarded or not.

Possible worth it for any upholstery protection it might include too - much like getting your new sofa Scotchguarded.

The mother in law has just bought a new toyota yaris ( don't shout I tried to get her To buy a skoda but no look) supposedly it's be threatens either life shine or supaguard but just seen it wet and there's bugger all on it. So in my eyes try to get some mats thrown in or something else and then spend a day yourself getting it right

As its free ill let them do it, if it looks bad complain to the hills. If ok ill take it home and pamper it with the free kit, got to wait another's 7 weeks anyway whilst its built lol

Unless its appled properly..doubtful at most dealers..I would forget it!!

The fair thing to do is ask to see an example they have supaguard and judge then on that. Can't tar them all with the same brush as their showroom cars look very nicely done, I took one out and the week after it was back in the showroom spotless.

OK..If its free and you have no inclination to wash your car and protect it on a regular basis, then fine

BUT

You do realise, that this stuff is only a sealer and will not last much over 12 months

The dealers are on massive commission and rip off unsuspecting customers on a regular basis

Look here...You can do it yourself for next to nothing:
