Prior to purchase advice please

Featured Replies

Hi,

Am looking to purchase a 58reg Superb mainly attracted to the reason of towing a caravan (I believe I am in the right Superb forum?)

Be grateful if any owners could advice me as to mpg I would realistically get when (not) towing,it's a 58reg 2009 Superb 2.0 TDI PD 140S 5door diesel, 82,000 on the clock,1 previous owner with service history, many thanks in advance.

Seems no-one's answering!

My experience is very limited, I've done 400 miles in my CR140 DSG 4x4 Combi. Most of the journeys have been urban/ city and have come out at about 34 which is a little better than my previous car an auto diesel Saab convertible. I'm optimistic my Skoda will eventually better the Saab.

I would think a manual two wheel drive saloon, even with the PD engine would better or equal my car - and yours is nicely run in at 82000, mine's only done 6000.

My wife's manual Focus, when new wouldn't pull in 6 th gear under about 70, now at 40000, it'll pull 6th at 50! Just waiting to get some miles on my car!

At that mileage I would be very interested in the service history and I would have preferred to see the car on fixed service intervals due to the dreaded turbo failure problems when turbo aspirated cars are run with the oil changed at lengthy intervals. The manufacturers know that they are quite safe for the first 3 years when a majority of cars are doing 10-12k miles on average. Frequent oil changes are your best defence at this mileage.
