TT front consoles causing tyre wear

Featured Replies

Does any one with the TT front console bushes get increase outer edge tyre wear?

Mine have been in for 6 months and the outer edges on the front have really taken a beating. I never got them aligned but I don't think even alignment would correct possitive camber.

I might be wrong, but I thought the TT ones were slightly different? Or maybe I am getting confused with the wishbones and other bits but something is not compatible.

I am very tired and it is Sunday in my defence.

Ha ha. I think the wishbones from a TT are wrong but the consoles should be right?

I thought they were quite a bit different? I remember seeing a photo of several different bushes from golf based cars, there was maybe an 1/2" difference across the various types. It was likely on here.

I have the superpro antilift type and no problems with excess tyre wear, but I did get it properly aligned.

not sure why just changing the bushes would cause outside tyre wear - if you just changed the bushes to the tt items they are no different to the skoda items apart from not being "voided". I'd guess that your alignment is out, nothing to do with the bush but probably caused when you did the swap.

i've got the tt console bushes in mine along with the tt lower control arms - full geometry done after they were fitted and tyre wear seems ok so far.

I pressed the original bushes out of my stock consoles and replaced with the TT ones so all should be ok, but it's the only thing I can think would cause it.

I'll get the new tyres on and get it aligned again.

What's the advantage of tt ones?

What's the advantage of tt ones?

They stiffen the whole front end up and help counteract wheel hop.

This wear is puzzling now. Camber cannot be adjusted on the Octavia from what I gather but this is extreme wear and the tyres are now very illegal.

Have you altered the suspension other than the TT console bushes?

It sounds like an alignment issue - it should really have been checked after the bushes were replaced.

No, I have no other suspension mods. I'll get it checked.

I drove around 10,000 miles with the TT bushes fitted with no issues, but I did get the wheels re-aligned after getting them fitted.

Update: had alignment done and apparently it "was a mile out" lol.
