turn key twice to start engine after replacing camshaft sensor

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

Just had camshaft sensor replaced, and it fixed my original problem link to thread . However it introduced another problem. I now have to turn the key twice to start the engine. It revs the engine at first try, but does not start. Second attempt it start after a couple revs.

The car have always started immediately, and the only change was the camshaft sensor.

I am thinking the garage could have been sloppy, and there is a slight leak that might cause compression loss.

I've tried resetting ECU, but still same.

I'm planning to change the plugs, but as it started after replacing the camshaft sensor it must be related to that somehow.

Any ideas?

Once it runs it runs just fine.

went to skoda garage yesterday. And the issue did not occur during the hour i was there. They said, don't worry about it. And they did not charge me.

But this morning it was back, and when it started on second attempt. The engine was shaking so bad, the whole car shaked :( Lasted a fec seconds, and then OK again. I can only explain this shaking with not all cylinders firing up. I cant imagine anything else causing it. It also sounded like it ran on just 2 (or maybe 3) cylinders.

Left it at the garage now, and will leave it there for 2 days. Still no error codes.

Will have the plugs changed, re-calibrate throttle housing (and APK/MOT done)

I really hope he can figure this out.

As only the camshaft sensor was replaced, I can only think of ECU to mess up. The new sensor fixed the original issue, but started this problem. But the episode this morning worries me :(
