Aircon not survived winter.

Recommended Posts

I had need of Aircon today, black car, in full sun, it was scorching, but the aircon failed to deliver. In the previous summer it was icy cold.

The 2 fans at the front of the car run ok when the econ mode is off, so i guess its probably low on coolant/oil.

Anything else I can check before I book it in Kwik fit whilst its £29, (KF have been brilliant in the past for this)

My only advice would be not to have the gas replenished unless a leak has been identified.

There are far too many threads on here of people complaining about garages topping up the gas which provides a temporary fix (until it all leaks out again).

Th A/C system is sealed.

Secondly the compressor is a well documented weak point on the MkII Octavia...

Could just need a re-gas though as said above the condensers on these can be problematic; I had mine fail on a just under 3 year old MK6 Golf and pretty much the whole AC cooling system (condenser and reciever dryer) had to be replaced; bad as I'd never experienced AC failing on a car so young but was told it was a known fault on MK5 and 6 Golfs; expect the Octavia uses the same hardware.

It does, if you let air in to the system you are supposed to replace the receiver/dryer.
