I'm lucky to be alive...

Featured Replies

Went out of my office to have a smoke yesterday afternoon...standing on the right of my car, I see the front tyre(left) low in air...by alot. Go to the Skoda dealer (they're right behind my workplace), get it filled with air. I already new there must have been an embedded nail, since in the morning it was fine.

Go back to the office, finish off work for the remaining hour, and then off to leave. Check tyre, not as low as I thought, since the nail was still embedded in the tyre.

Drive off to the closest station at a speed of about 80kmph to get it patched, which is about 10kms from my workplace...get there, they find the nail, remove the tyre and start getting it patched...

In the mean time, I tell the guy to also go around and check if the other tyres are ok...he goes around....stops at my rear left, his eyes gaped wide open...there was a side-wall slash 'You're lucky it din't burst'...God was with me yesterday..we've had many incidents of blown tyres here, and I'm lucky to be alive.

I got the spare to sit where the slashed tyre was, and got that other one with the nail patched up...went this morning to the Falken distributors (everybody else has a standard pricing of about GBP50 for the low-profile 195/50/15 ST115 Azenis Sport, and they go no less than that), and I got the tyres for about 30% less. Fantastic tyres, read good reviews on them.

Took her for a good clean wash this afternoon (4 days no wash, sand and dirt all over), they clean the under part of the car too, cleaned and scrubed inside the wheel arches, cleaned the alloys detailed...looks beautiful.

And since the I use the car for work, I'm getting 50% back of the total payment I made for the tyres back from the company :)

Again...thank the Lord I'm still alive.

OUCH!!

Glad your ok m8, rear blowouts can be bloody lethal if travelling at speed.

So you off to church this weekend to say thanks??

I've had a blow-out on a caravan that i was towing. I was extremely suprised when nothing bad happened. I just pulled over to the side of the road and let it coast to a stop.

I had a blowout on my Mk2 Jetta on a motorway off slip whilst going round a bend over a bridge. Scared the hell outta me when the back end suddenly went. Somehow managed to catch it and missed the armco by a couple of inches.

thats bloody cheap for tyres!!

Dude, everything is cheaper here than in England. A cola is worth 5 pence.

I've had a few blowouts and nails, worst one was a back tyre luckily, I was doing about 85 when bang the tyre went and suddenly the car didn't appreciate the straight line I wanted to drive in.

Think I parked outside someone's house one night when I couldn't get a space and they took it upon themselves to put nails in my tyres at every possible occasion (could never prove it of course) also paint stripper or some sort of paint remover all over my car one morning, car broke in to and steering column broke, final straw was bending the wiper blades, pretty sure it was that person so rang police and told them I saw him. He paid for the wiper and nothing ever happened again.

I still think of revenge but then I remind myself the car was probably only worth 250 quid when I got it, the good old 1ltr Citroen ax how I miss not worrying where I parked my car.

dont miss the non existent brakes, the dire handling, the awful............

infact the only thing i miss about the car is the parking and even then it was open to attack by any chav without a car.
